Olivia's POV*
"Nice one kid. I didn't think you had it in you," I said, impressed when I was sure Mr friendly wasn't going to get back up for a while.

Jason's powers were weird and not particularly reliable. You never knew when they were going to fail. As for the whole "having to have contact" thing, it was also inconsistent. Sometimes he did, sometimes he could do it from the far side of the room. When he tried to explain it to me he said that having a physical connection to someone made it easier to establish a mental one. I figured the kid was exhausted so River being within touching distance was the only option.

Another limit to what he could do is that he couldn't read or alter anyone's thoughts. It was a blessing and a curse. Yeah it meant he couldn't get inside my head and find out how much trouble we were really in here but it also meant he couldn't make our landlord think that we'd already paid our rent

"So what do we do now?" Jamie asked and the absolute trust in his eyes made me even more determined to think of a plan.
"Well it's kind of hard to escape while tied to a chair," I said uncertainly realising I hadn't exactly thought this through.
I sat thinking for a moment , scanning the room for something that could be useful. A glimmer of something protruding from dick biscuits pocket caught my eye.
"Hey Jason? You see the thing sticking out of the caveman's pocket? I think it might be a Swiss Army knife."

I saw Jason nod his head and then reach out as far as he could with his arms restricted. It's just out of reach but after struggling for a minute he managed to get it in his fingertips.
"Your doing great, kid," I said , hoping I'm being encouraging instead of patronising

" Now cut the rope.Careful though.I'd like to avoid a trip to A&E." He rolls his eyes at this but the kid is clumsy as hell. Breaks something nearly every other week.

Once he's cut him himself loose he rushes over and does the same for me. Once I'm free I immediately get up and start stretching my aching legs. I was pretty sure this escape was going to involve us running like hell at some point and I'd much rather my legs weren't half asleep when the time came.

"When we get out of here I want an ice-cream. I'm talking three scoops with sprinkles and marshmallows and a flake and all that jazz. The whole shebang." Jamie states and I laughed, glad that he still posses the ability to find humour in the worst situations.
"Kid if we make it out of here you can have whatever you want but we've along way to go so I need you focused. Can't have you daydreaming about ice-cream when we have an escape to accomplish now can I?" I replied  with a smile to show him I was only teasing.

I was about to try the door handle when I heard multiple footsteps coming from near by.
"Get behind the door Jamie. Drop anyone who comes in." I whispered hoping it's just one guy.
Someone knocks the door. Three sharp raps.
"Everything all right in there River?" The voice sounded like a mans voice. An older one by the sounds of it. When he gets no reply he slowly pushed open the door and me and Jamie flattened ourselves against the wall.

I know the exact moment when he registered the scene before him. One of his men unconscious on the floor, two empty chairs and an abundance of cut rope.
"What the-?" He starts but before he could finish Jason reached out and drops him. Or at least tried to. I can see the mental battle in Jason's head and a bead of sweat appeared  from the effort.
The man just looked at Jason unimpressed, bored even.
"I'm afraid that won't work on me son. Got a lot of metal up hear," he said tapping the top of his head. "There not enough left for you to control."

Icy cold fear ran  through me. I had never met anyone immune to Jason's touch before. Ever. It just wasn't possible. I saw  the fear I felt plastered over Jason's face.
"Now I sure hope you two weren't planning on leaving already. You just got here." He said like he's some disgruntled party host and we were being ungrateful guests.
I wrapped my arms protectively around Jamie.
"What do you want from us?" I said with more confidence than I felt.
"Cooperation. However I think you need motivation. River get the girl I'll take the kid."
I hadn't even notice the meat head get up but now he was right behind me pinning my arms to my sides.
The man took Jason and lifted him over his shoulder. I saw Jason struggle and it made me proud to see him fighting so hard. The man carries him into the corridor and I fought Rivers grasp until I made it out into the corridor too.Determined to keep Jason in my line of site.
"You really don't want to do this." I said filling my voice with as much venom as I could muster
"Oh? And why's that?" The man asked with a raised brow.
I let go of all the rage I felt looking at him taking Jason away from me and fuel it into my gift. Giving it everything I have.

Rivers POV*

Huge dents started appearing in the metal ceiling. What the hell was going on.
"What did you do?" Bill yelled at the girl not bothering to conceal his rage.
The girl just grinned at him while the dents continue forming. Some of the dents start turning into holes and massive peices of what look like ice start coming through. Is that hail? Holy shit! It looked like hail except for the fact it was roughly the size of a potato. She controls weather of course the bending rain how could I forget?
"Stop it!" I yelled from behind her
"Give me the kid!"She yells at Bill.
"Will you make it stop if I do?" Bill asked. I can't believe he was actually considering it. Hasn't he ever heard of not negotiating with terrorists?
She nods and Bill hands over the kid. I still have my hold on the girl and when Bill gives me a nod I pulled out some chloroform from my back pocket and held it over her face until I felt her sag against me. I saw Bill do the same with the kid and I breathed out a sigh of relief when the hail stops.
"Harmless huh Bill?" I asked sarcastically.
"I may have underestimated her." He says sounding almost impressed.
"If I didn't know better Bill id say you were impressed,"
"I like her. She's got guts. Smart too. And she sticks up for her family which is admirable.." He said like he had an idea.
"What are you saying Bill?" I asked hoping I was not going to regret asking.
"I think it's time we found our guests a more permanent accommodation here." He stated confidently.
I groaned internally. Not another one of Bills stupid reform projects. They never worked and always ended in a mess. I looked at the girl now unconscious on the floor. Without the glare she always wore around me she was beautiful.

Maybe it won't be so bad for her to stick around... I stopped my thoughts in their tracks.
No no no she is one of them. I would die before I looked at her with anything but disgust.
