Grace lookslike she's about to puke. "Grace," I say, putting a hand on her shoulder. She looks up at me.
"Wha..?"
"Don't freak out on me. We've worked too hard to back out now. "
She looks insulted and starts playing with her hands. "I wouldn't do that. " she says.
I nod, turning to the stage manager. "How much time do we have?"
He holds both hands up, signalling that were on in ten seconds.
10, she's looking out the side of the curtain. I pull her hand away.
9, "you're gonna do great. Just play like we're in front of our losers. "
8, she nods, turning her back to the stage.
7, we take our positions on the squares that will lift us on to the stage.
6, she closes her eyes.
5, she takes a deep breath.
4, she opens her eyes.
3, I give her a reassuring look.
2, the squares start lifting.
1, I paste on a smile and get ready for the first performance of Neverland.
