Math class. Finally. No matter where I move its always a constant. I can always count on being the smartest in the class, not to be too arrogant but I'm pretty good at it. Not that its something to brag about to the ladies though. Anyway, as I sink into my seat I begin copying the notes. Soon after people begin chatting around me and the teacher, Mr. Mel, puts up practice problems and asks some students to come up and solve them.
"Mister Evans please go up there and solve number two for us" I stand up and confidently scribble some work down, although I've already done it in my head. And sit back down. Once all the problems are done Mr. Mel calls on a girl.
"What is it Kaylie?"
"Well, uh, I think number two is wrong" I quickly snap out of my daze and, flushed I turn around to see her, Kaylie Hansen. She's staring at me with superiority with her big blue eyes as she flips her long, dark hair over her shoulder. I stare back in astonishment, I'm not wrong. I never have been what can she possibly be talking about?
"Please go on Miss Hansen" says Mr. Mel.
"Well if I may" she says, already walking up to the board. She takes a red pen to go over my work (in black pen) and circles (1x1). "One plus one is two." She says
"Actually that says one times one" I defend.
"No. It doesn't. Because your previous work shows that the term is one plus one. The addition sign just appears as a multiplication sign" she fires back. I watch in awe as she struts back to her seat and continues her notes.
That's the day. That's the moment. I met her.
