Isis was sitting at Starbucks, waiting for Jill. It had been a week since her first date with Michael and they had grown close very quickly. They texted each other often and, if it hadn't been for both of their busy schedules, they would have gone on another date. It's not to say that Michael was over his ex-fiancée, he talked about her often, but they were working on it.

Isis was glad that her friends were happy for her though Grant seemed sullen lately. She didn't have as much time for him. When she did text him his answers were short or they arrived after a long time. Isis was afraid that she was going to lose Grant, but she didn't know how to fix it.

Isis looked at her phone. No messages. She sighed and wondered what Grant was doing. He could be with his fiancée, lesson planning, walking on the moon. Anything.

Isis texted Grant, hoping he'd respond. "Hey. What are you doing? I miss you." She pressed send and waited.

The answer came almost immediately. "Busy."

Isis felt her eyes fill up with tears. "Okay, I'm sorry." She buried her face in her hands and tried not to cry out loud. She was losing her best friend and she had no idea why. Her phone dinged.

"I miss you too."

Isis had composed herself by the time Jill showed up.

"Sorry I'm late. I was helping Janet pick out invitations." Jill was out of breath like she'd been running.

Isis smiled and hugged her. "Don't worry about it. You're just being a great future sister-in-law."

"I just wish that my brother was being a great future husband. Thanks for the coffee," Jill said, taking a drink.

Isis' heart raced. What did she mean?

"Enough about that. I want to hear about your Michael." Jill looked like a puppy she was so excited.

Isis laughed. "Okay, calm down. Well he's great. We went to Catch and Release to eat and it was amazing. He had a four courses picked out and I was so full after."

"I love that place," Jill said, interrupting. "Was it awkward? I don't know how I'd feel if I had to leave someone I loved."

"It was at first, but he's easy to talk to and really nice."

"I can't wait to meet him. What happened after dinner," Jill asked.

Isis sighed and grinned. "We saw Hamilton on Broadway."

Jill eyes went so wide they looked like dinner plates. "No way! I am so jealous."

"You should be. It was amazing," Isis teased.

Jill furrowed her brow. "How did you get there so fast?"

"We teleported."

"Oh yeah," Jill said, rubbing her chin. "I forget you guys can do that. What happened after that?"

Isis gave Jill a look. She knew exactly what she was implying. "We went to our own homes. We don't want to move too fast. We want to get to know each other better, but we're also hoping that Marie will change her mind. He loves his fiancée, they've been together since they were kids."

Isis looked down at her hands, feeling her eyes well up. She knew that if her and Michael got married, she would never be able to compete with his ex. Michael would try and he wouldn't neglect her, but something would be missing.

Jill reached over and grabbed Isis' hand. "You are amazing Isis. Anyone that is around you can see that. He may pine over her for awhile, but he will come around."
