Chapter Fifteen:
"Hi, my name is Sarafina." The blonde, blue-eyed girl with perfect skin said in a petit and elegant voice.
Sarafina. Of course, even her name is fucking gorgeous, Sandra thought bitterly to herself. I bet she's really smart as well, and can speak like eight languages, like Shakira.
"Hello? Are you there?" Sarafina asked, confused, snapping her fingers in front of Sandra's to get her attention.
Sandra slightly jolted as she returned a smile to the blonde German. "Hi, I'm Sandra."
"Hi Sandra, it's good to meet you. Are you a relative or partner of one of the players? I see Bastian Schweinsteiger right beside you." Sarafina observed, nodding at the other German sitting right next to Sandra, who was immensely engaged in the game.
"No, I'm not anyone's relative or girlfriend." Sandra said stiffly, probably because at one stage this statement was not necessarily true. "I'm just a friend of Bastian's."
"Are-uh, are you and Reus..." Sandra trailed off, struggling to find the word to describe them.
Sarafina chuckled. "Yes, we're together. We have been for the past... eight months, I suppose." She said, furrowing her perfectly plucked eyebrows in thought.
So four months into my departure and he started dating her. Great.
"How wonderful!" Sandra replied, with a fake look of surprise and happiness on her face. "Where did you guys meet?" Her mouth now stuck in that tight grin, scared that if she lets go, she might just burst into a frown.
"At a charity event where I was modeling. We met there and just couldn't stop getting enough of each other ever since." She replied dreamily, with a faint smile.
Of course, this wasn't all true on Sarafina's part. It wasn't as if they were as love-struck as they were before, in fact they were falling apart more than they ever did before, but Sarafina was certain that they would become the same as they were before.
"So I'm assuming you're not from here?" Sarafina guessed, by Sandra's accent in German and her more exotic characteristics.
Sandra nodded in response. "I'm actually from Argentina. I lived in Munich, then Dortmund, and then moved back to Buenos Aires. I'm just here for a conference actally." She explained, leaving out the part where she and Sarafina's current boyfriend were in veritable love with each other.
Sandra did not know why, but she just couldn't bring herself to tell Sarafina that she used to be Marco's manager, let alone tell her that she was in love with him, and maybe still is.
"That's why your German is so good!" Sarafina laughed, becoming friendlier with the Argentine. "Don't worry, I just moved to Dortmund too, so I'm pretty new here as well."
As the second half rolled by, Sandra, despite herself, found herself quite liking Sarafina. Even though at times she wanted to smash her head in, but she wanted to smash everyone's head in. They were so immersed in conversation that they neglected the second Dortmund goal that Shinji Kagawa scored for the home side.
As much as Sandra tried, she couldn't bring herself to hate Sarafina, and definitely did not find enough peeves to make her an annoying person. She was impressed, but still resented the fact that Sarafina was dating Marco.
"There's a New Years Party tonight at my boyfriend's place with all of his friends and teammates. You should totally come, I mean, you're leaving tomorrow aren't you?" Sarafina asked cheerfully. She was excited that she had made another friend, and had no intention of cutting contact with her.
Sandra's thoughts were swirling at the mention of this party. It had been exactly one year since she had last seen Marco, and now she was invited to his house for a party by his new girlfriend.
"Come on, it'll be fun, I promise." Sarafina pleaded, sensing Sandra's hesitation.
Sandra let out a sigh, thinking to herself that she would regret this in the morning. "Fine. It'll be fun, you're right." She said, and put on a fake smile.
"Great!" Sarafina exclaimed in happiness. "It'll be at 9PM, and I'll send you the details."
"No need." Sandra muttered under her breath, and thankfully Sarafina did not catch that. Sandra didn't know how Sarafina would react if she ever found out that she used to live in her boyfriend's apartment.
"I can't wait for you to meet Marco, he's so sweet and caring!" Sarafina exclaimed perkily. She clapped her hands in glee and was smiling as if she had a hanger in her mouth.
"I bet he is!" Sandra answered through gritted teeth. I know he is.

The game had ended with an extra 6 minutes injury time. Marco was exhausted by the time it was over as he played the whole game, but his mind was focused on only one thing.
As he walked through the tunnel, heaving and panting, he still couldn't bring himself to grasp the fact that he had seen Sandra Maritimo sitting on the stands to one his matches, sitting right next to his girlfriend.
What was she doing here? How did she come here? Did she want to see me?
At first, he did not realize that it was her. As he ran towards the stands, he was only focused on going to kiss Sarafina, something she said would be a good PR thing or something like that.
But he could recognize that face from a million miles away. From the corner of his eye, he saw her, but he thought that his mind was playing tricks on him. And he was too afraid to avert his eyes to her face in case it wasn't her.
"Marco, did I just see Sandra sitting next to Bastian Schweinsteiger at one of the Dortmund stands?" Pierre questioned once they had reached the locker rooms, puzzled to why the ex- Bayern player was sitting next to Marco's ex-manager in one of the Dortmund stands.
Marco looked beside him to see his Gabon teammate. "They're close friends." Marco muttered, not exactly in the best mood.
He still needed to get ready for the party he would be having at his place in a few hours. The most amazing, fun, and wild New Years Party, or as Sarafina claims it will be. It was all her who planned this; Marco was as about as useful as a lump for the preparations for the event. All he did was tell her whom he wanted to invite.
After he had changed, Marco walked to the other locker room, where the Bayern team would be. He had wanted to greet his fellow ex-teammate, Mario Gotze.
Just as he entered the changing room, he saw her. He stopped in his staps.
Glimpse and vacant in all her perfection, she was there in the Bayern changing room, standing right next to Bastian Schweinsteiger, laughing at something one of the players were saying.
Sandra still looked the same; same hair, same smile, same lipstick shade, same clothes. Everything was nostalgic to Marco.
However, her carefree smile dropped once she laid her eyes on him.
"Marco?" Sandra exhaled softly.
