Earth to me.

“Alex…” Marla tried to pull me off my thoughts as she wave a hand in front of my face. “look, you have to talk to us, we have some contracts to discuss and if you don’t want to talk about it right now, can you just share with us what you’re thinking?”

I looked at them.

Sighs.

I really don’t know what to do anymore.

I don’t even know where to start.

“I’m ending it.”

“That’s good. Buti naman nagising ka na.” Jana said as she reached for a couple of fries from my tray.

“Finally at iiwan mo na yang panira na Vito na yan. He’s really nothing but bad news.” Marla said with her usual but definitely stronger resentment against Vito. I saw the way she bit the fries. Quite harshly, like biting Vito’s head off his body.

“Tama na Marla. Alex, don’t look so sad. We’re not used to you being that way. You can still straighten things out. Just make sure that you’ll keep him out of your life this time for good.” Aira told me with a reassuring beam.

Jana gave my shoulder a sympathetic pat, “Oo nga. Let’s just hope he’ll accept it this time. Sabihin mo wag na syang mangulit. Everything will go back to normal with you and Rey, you’ll see.”

I didn’t say anything.

I couldn’t look at them, couldn’t even manage to breathe normally.

My heart is heavy.

But this is for the best, whatever that best is.

Maybe the fries would help.
