Have you ever looked at someone beautiful
and whispered to yourself,

"You're gonna break my heart someday."

You were that person for me.
You were the gorgeous blonde who sat
on the bench next to me,
telling jokes just to make me laugh,
the one who brought colour to my dreams.
Your sparkling eyes were inviting and captivating
and I swear they were black holes.
I swear on anything that you were a wizard,
a beautiful, radiant magician,
but I was the only one under your spell.
All the others brushed right past you,
not appreciating the time they had with you.
I would trade years of my life
for hours in your company.

I would crank up the radio
when a love song came on,
my heart swelling with feelings
I had never felt before.
My brain knew I shouldn't be feeling it,
and it tried to steer clear,
but my heart pulled on the reins.
It was like a story,
when souls meet and fall in love
in every life they have.
Except mine seemed to be a little off.
It chose you,
and you chose someone else.

When hopes became futile,
and rational thought finally reached my head,
I smiled sadly,
and went back to hiding.
No one else brought out my shine like you did,
no one else coaxed out my sparkle.
You did it unknowingly,
but I thank you nonetheless.
You helped me see the light in the dark,
the path through the woods.
You showed me that no matter what,
there was love for everyone.
Your feelings weren't for me,
but the rays of your sun warmed my heart.
I loved you, with all my heart.
Did you love me too?
