David's POV
*three hours later*
"Why do bad things always happen to her?" I ask, raking my hands through my hair for the millionth time.
"Bad things always happen to good people." Andrew says and everyone nods in agreement. Caity called me and said Delilah had been in an accident, and I got over to the hospital as fast as I could.
I didn't know that the guys had followed me, or that I'd left my car door open when I got here.
No one knew what to say. 'I'm Sorry' seemed too nice and 'She'll be okay' seemed like a lie.
I don't know if she was going to be alright or not, and that scares me to death. She could wake up with a number of consequences, or could be perfectly fine with only a few scratches and bruises. But no one is ever perfectly fine after things like this.
She's going to be messed up for a long time. Caity hiccups and I look in her direction. She's shaking her head, her shoulders shaking.
"I'm so sorry." She whispers to no-one imparticular, but everyone and I know that it's directed at Delilah.
"David, sit down, you're gonna pass out." Andrew says and I sigh before sitting on the couch beside him, once again raking my hands through my hair.
"She's.." Andrew starts, searching for words of encouragement. "gonna be okay. Don't worry." He says, but I know he only halfway believes it. He and I both know what could happen when she wakes up. If she wakes up.
A room has never seemed so small, even though it's big enough to hold all nine of us with room to spare.
We shouldn't be here right now. Delilah shouldn't be hurt and possibly fucked up for life. We should be home watching Breaking Bad with the mattresses on the floor in front of the TV with an assortment of fast food in front of us.
Everything should be fine. This never should have happened.
"I heard there'd been an accident, who's hurt?" A voice asks from the doorway. I look up, seeing a very winded Ben Bruce standing in the door.
"How'd you find out?" Hayden asks him.
"Brandon texted and said I should probably get to the hospital." He quickly says.
No one says anything. "Delilah." I quietly say.. The color drains from Ben's face and his eyes widen as his mouth drops. "Delilah?" He asks.
He runs his hands over his face before fisting his hair. "Fuck." He mumbles.
I know that Ben and Delilah have gotten rather close over the past few weeks and I know that she has feelings for him, and I'm starting to see his for her. Ben is a good guy, don't get me wrong, I just don't want her to get hurt again. When her and Brent broke up, she was so beaten up about it, and I don't want that to happen again.
She was broken, and she started acting right when Ben came along. It's almost like it was fate.
Someone always seems to come along when the other is broken, and they ultimately fix them in the end, and Ben is fixing Delilah.
Or was, at least.Another half hour goes by, the only sound in the waiting room is created by Ben's foot which rapidly taps against the floor.
When we told him, he collapsed onto the couch opposite of me, leaned forwards to rest his head on the coffee table between us and wrapped his arms around his head and didn't move for a good twenty minutes.
I look at him for a moment, studying his body language. He finally lifted his head from the coffee table about five minutes ago, and now sits with his shoulders rounded, his hands clasped together between his knees with his head down.
