Prologue

683 years earlier,

Mad Hatter looked down upon the kneeling man in front of him. No, he was utterly inhuman. Although he was dressed handsomely in a black tailcoat as well as matching court shoes, the suit was splattered with crimson blood in an interesting pattern. The blood-thirsty glint in the ember eyes had gone, replaced by overwhelming grief. The pair of long white ears which had never once falters from its upright position, drooped sadly while his long, furry tail curled up tightly. A few feet away from the pair, a black top hat lay in a battered heap, with a torn satin ribbin tied on it. Faint ticking sounds could be heard from the cracked watch that was tucked neatly into the fold of the ribbon, itslong, silver chainwound connecting to the the hat itself.

Despite the maddening extent of disgust and wrath Mad Hatter felt towards the traitor, a sharp, painful tinge of sympathy pierced his cold heart. For such a dignified, honored and magnificent swordsman to be fooled into betraying and killing his loved ones due to such a simple lie... To see him reduced into such a pathetic state... It was pitiful.

Suddenly, the shivering wreck looked up, startling the Mad Hatter with his sorrowful expression. "Kill me. I ...I... don't deserve to live," he whispered, grabbing his sword and thrusting it to the other's hands. The general held it between his index finger and thumb, inspecting it at an arms-length. Dried blood covered the blade, which glimmered underneath the red mess. A single blue diamond was encrusted into the handle, which the Mad Hatter was careful not to touch. The aura blood-lust from the cursed sword was overwhelming, nearly suffocating Mad Hatter.

Instinct urged him to slice of the head of the beast, acknowledging the cries of defiance from the dead.

It was for the best.

He deserved what he got.

Avenge their beloved Alice, the savior of Rionia.

Such a dangerous thing could not be allowed to live.

The clatter upon the marble floor made the kneeling man swiftly raise his head, his whiskers twitching agitatedly. Mad Hatter narrowed his slit-like eyes, his thin lips pursed together. But he had made his decision. Killing such a skillful individual who may be useful to the day to come was not a chance he would take. Besides that, how could he, a ranked officer below the Alice ever kill his murderer? It was disgraceful to the Alice. Also...

"Although I do not have the power to demand for your life, I can appeal for lifelong confinement. You shall be locked up in a Level 0 prison under supervision until you are summoned to aid the country. Your existence shall be wiped out from the face of the world. This idea shall be held during your trial by the soon to be elected Royal Guards and King. In the meantime, you shall be locked up securely with the maximum security," Mad Hatter announced, conjuring up ropes to bind the paws of his prisoner together. No struggle or cry of protest was attempted, yet horror was written upon the other man's face. As he led his prisoner through the sea of corpses that littered the marble floor, the prisoner finally manage to gasp, "But... I killed the Alice! How can I face Lynette? "Silence filled the large ballroom as footsteps stopped. The man in front started shaking ever so slightly, raising head to stare upon the high sky-blue ceiling. "A monster like you... should live for the sins you had committed. Regret and suffer the same immense pain that you have caused. And..." he glared back at his captive with pure anger.

"I'll never forgive you for what you have done,"

A tear trickled down the corner of Mad Hatter's eyes, mingling with the blood and sweat. He turned away quickly, tugging roughly at the rope. With that, the famous Mad Hatter and White Rabbit exited the room, leaving the dead body of their beloved partner, friend and self-proclaimed brother, behind.

Few minutes later after they had evacuated the building, a bomb exploded, disintegrating the any evidence of the worst weapon ever created as well the best warrior of Rionia.

Now...

The gates of the Annex 427 prison creaked opened and a man dressed in a crisp black suit stepped out into the sunlight. White Rabbits nose sniffed the cool, musky air. It had been 683 years since he had actually felt the warm glow of sunlight cast upon his face. He stood there for a moment, savoring his latest contact with the real world. Then, he straightened his tie, rested his gloved hand upon his loving cane (which he had only received 2 hours before) and walked towards the awaiting limousine. He tipped his new hat at his scowling ex-jailer and slid neatly into the car.

Now, it was time to find the new Alice.

And this time, he wasn't going to make any mistakes.
