I am not a morning person, never have been, never will be. Waking up after a night like yesterday's was even worse.
Rolling myself out of bed I sluggishly dress and pin up my unruly hair. Looking at the green eyed girl in the mirror I could pin the resemblance of each feature to a parent in the family photo tucked into the top corner of the frame.
Dad wouldn't have taken away my freedom, would he?
The green eyed man with unruly blond hair in the picture grinned while he wore the Arcana symbol pinned on the lapel of his jacket.
Would he?
Pushing away from the vanity I push away my doubts, needing to focus on the day not 'what ifs?'.
On my way to the office Fel and I share I snag a piece of toast and an apple from the kitchen. I enter our workplace to find both of our desks stacked high with papers. Being the productive person I was I immediately pushed up my sleeves and started pouring through the papers. The sooner this was done the sooner I could go train. It wasn't too much later when Luca entered, trying harder than normal to be quiet. Moments after Fel came in with a polite good morning.
"Good morning, Milady." Luca greeted, still keeping the volume low.
"Morning Fel." I put down my current document while Fel took one look at her own desk and sighed.
"That's right. Our job is to sort through documents."
"Yes. All the other members of Sword are already out on their patrol." Luca informed us. "Everyone's looking out for you two."
"What?"
"Well, in light of Papa's announcement last night we figured you might need some time to think by yourselves."
"I know." Fel suddenly took interest in the carpet.
"Th-that's right, we've received quite a limoni. I'll go make some limonata." Luca rushed out of the office. He was never one for confrontation if he couldn't help it.
Almost immediately after there was a knock at the door. No rest in this house.
"Come in!" I called, standing up from my desk.
"Ciao Princesses!" The blond's head popped in the door.
"What are you doing here, Libertá?" Questioned Fel.
"Here." He handed her a palm sized pink conch shell.
"How pretty."
"And for you." Liberta handed me a large blue piece of rounded sea glass.
"Wow." I held it up to the light and it sparkled beautifully.
"I picked them up this morning when we were unloading."
"Are you worried about us because of yesterday?" Fel asked hesitantly.
"Huh? Uh... yeah..."
Did we really seem so fragile that everyone thought they had to tread lightly around us?
"I'll be okay." She turned to me, a small smile on her face.
"Of course I'm fine." I smiled back. "We're the head of the Sword, after all."
"Well said, Princess." Libertá grinned as well.
Pounding feet echoed through the hallway and we all looked up at the moment Nova ran by the open doorway.
"Nova?"
"That's strange. He's never in a hurry." Libertá seemed surprised as well. "Let's go see why." He grabbed Fel's hand then mine and started dragging us down the hall.
