I was sitting by the window on the bus, admiring the perfect view from the window. It was night time and the city lights looked amazing from high up on the bridge. I gasped as it came into view. The world famous Eiffel tower. My feet were surrounded with shopping bags, loaded with clothes, shoes and souvenirs. Everything was simply perfect.
"Miss Bridges, hello?" Mrs. Tait waved her ruler in a circular motion in my face. I jolt my head up and push my hair out of my face. The kids around me snickered, including my best friends. Screw them. Just kidding. "Uh... s-sorry" I wriggle in my chair uncomfortably. Mrs. Tait didn't look very pleased. Everything about her face was pinched, dry, old, sharp, disturbing, and serious. Her thin lips were in a pin-strait line, giving away her I'm-not-impressed look. "That is the second time this month!" she growled loudly. I know it wasn't very good of me to dream in class, especially for a strait A student like me, but other people have been caught doing it all the time... especially in math. Plus I was only asleep for like three minutes, I think. "Do you know how long you were asleep?" she growled. "F-five minutes?" I sat up straighter. "Well Hannah here says she saw you asleep twelve minutes ago, isn't that what you said, Hannah?" she turned to Hannah who raised a brow at me. She looked at her watch. "Something like that" she smiled. Everyone snickered and looked from me to Hannah. Everyone knew that Hannah and I don't get along. Why didn't she just wake me up? "That's it, afterschool!" she screeched. "But, you cant-!" "Lucy!" She turns around and goes back to her desk. Just then the bell went and everyone jumped up. "Thanks for wasting my time! I didn't even cover everything" Mrs. Tait collapsed into her chair. Everyone made their way out of the door but I stayed in the classroom. This never happened to me before, this really sucks. "I'm really sorry Mrs. Tait" I held my books behind my back and rocked on my feet nervously. "I'm dissapointed in you Miss Bridges, this never happens." She looked really tired and worn out I kinda felt sorry for her. "You're at the top of the class and you were asleep? Is something wrong? Have I been giving you too mutch homework?" "No! I was just tired, that's all" I assure her. "Ok, ok" she sighs. "You can go, but I don't want to catch you doing that again, understood?" she glared at me. I nodd. "Thanks" I say as I leave the classroom. "Hey, did she let you off easy?" my best friend Liam asked. I guess he'd been waiting for me when I was in there. He's the best. "She did" I smile. "So do you want to go hang out after school? Maybe go get ice cream or something?" he asks as we mak our way down the hall. I look at him and then focus ahead again. "I would love to but it's Gabe's birthday and I promised Mom I'd help her out. They're having this big nerf gun fight in our backyard and I have to help set up the obsticles" I laugh. I noticed he looked pretty dissapointed. "Sorry about that, you know I'd love to go" I say as we exit the school and stand in the parking lot. It was really windy and the hair was blowing in my face. It was really annoying and it didn't look pretty like it did in movies when the actress' hair would blow around sweetly and the guy would tuck it behind her ear. No... it was more like getting in my mouth and making things hard to see. "It doesn't matter" he shrugged. "It's just..." he began but then suddeny stopped. "What?" I look at him curiously. "Nevermind" he looked at the ground. "I hate it when you do that" I laugh and then stop when I realize he isn't even smiling a tiny bit. He was acting really weird. Usually he was the funny guy who joked around and made me laugh all the time. Right now he was all serious and boring. "So, I'll see you tomorrow then?" he looked at me. His black hair was thick at the top and shortish at the sides and didn't even mess up in the wind. I looked at his brown eyes with his thick dark lashes that I didn't even have. I have blue-green eyes that I'm getting really sick of. Liam was half Greek half Canadian and the bestest friend out there. I'm a tanned Australian model with the perfect looks, some say I resemble Megan Fox. No... that's a joke, I'm a 5'6 Canadian with brown hair and yadda yadda.
"Lucy?"
"What?"
"See you tomorrow" he snapped his finger and pointed at me before retreating to his black dodge ram that was splattered with mud. What a freak of a best friend I have. "See you!" I called and waved to him. I went over to my lame car and hopped in.
