They laid in the grass, nightfall already blanketing the city in darkness. The grass was slightly damp with water, since it had rained earlier in the summer day. The dark, stormy clouds that had dominated the sky had been whisked away just in time to see the stars dot across their sky like drops of white paint on this silky, ebony canvas.

“They’re so beautiful…” she mumbled, not meaning to say it out loud. She blushed and nuzzled his neck, craning her gaze toward the sky, lost in the wonder of every star she could see with the light pollution of a city that seemed miles away.

He turned to her with a soft smile. “You are so beautiful.”

Returning his kind smile with her own, she placed a kiss on their entwined hands. “You’re too sweet.”

“Never. Never for my Princess.” Grinning, he kissed her nose lightly.

“My everything…” she sighed wistfully, tracing the planes of his face with a feathery fingertip.

Closing his eyes, he indulged in her touch. “My world,” he recited, their cheesy lovey-dovey lines comforting in the blanket of spreading dark.

They stared into each other’s eyes for what seemed like forever… But finally, she broke it, eyes flicking down to his lips for a brief moment. He noticed.

Her lips parting slightly with bated breath, eyes fluttering closed…he took advantage of her willingness to kiss him, entangling his fingers through her thin brown hair. Their lips collided and broke apart over and over until she was robbed of breath, melting in his arms. Humming with desire, she deepened their kiss, tongue flicking out to graze his.

His hands caressed her sides and down her back, pulling her further into his arms. He mumbled her name against her lips, utterly lost in the feeling of her lips, her body, the way her hair smelled and brushed against his skin with the night breeze.

She rolled on top of him, giggling, and kissing his lips into oblivion. “I love you,” she told him, tickling his lips with hers.

“I love you, too,” he smiled, picking her up and carrying her into the house. “Let’s get to bed, darling.”

She sighed with bliss and let her muscles relax in his strong arms. “Okay.”

Setting her down on their bed, he took everything off except for his underwear, doing the same for her. Her eyes closed, she let him just spoil her for a moment. He tucked her into bed, pulling the covers up to her chin. “Good night, my love.” Kissing her on the forehead, he crawled in with her. “Sweet dreams.”

“Sweet dreams,” she uttered, falling into the world of sleep in his embrace, dreaming of all the ways she could romance him like he did her.

And in the morning, it was raining again. And he watched her dance in the downpour…in her underwear.
