I got off the bus and it was already dark out, the only light was coming from the full moon. With the wind nipping at my ears, I pull out my beanie and slide it on. I walk on the freshly fallen snow and look up at the sky, watching the flurries fly around me, I smile and continue on my way. The view is astonishing, the way the snow sticks to the leafless trees, the beautiful moon shining on the snow making it glitter. The wind picks up so I walk a little faster, knowing I have a long way to walk.
"Riley." I turn to see where the whisper came from, there's no one behind me so I ignore it and keep heading toward home. A few minutes later I hear it again but this time a little louder.
"Riley!" I turn around again a little worried. "RILEY!!!" I jump, there's no one around so I start running, suddenly afraid of what's in the dark.
I'm close to home but then I slip, I get up as quick as I can but I hurt my ankle so I'm limping. I cry out in pain for help but it's no use, no one is around. I'm at the end of my driveway and pull out my key, I'm so close and the lights are out. I have to find out what key fits in the door in the dark.
I get the key in the lock and slam the door behind me, I'm breathing heavily and slide down against the door, tears rolling down my face. And I hear it again, coming from outside.
"Riley!"
