Cara Tyranny is just your typical college girl---a girl who races for her dreams, working her own path towards it. Student during weekdays, cashier at night and weekends. Though it seems like stresses are not gonna end---thoughts of quitting never once cross her mind, the word 'quit' just don't fit in her vocabulary.
"I never took you for a quitter."
Her mother once said one cold night while she cries helplessly over a petty thing.
She is a straight A student, an undebatable genius, if I may add. Labeled as the valedictorian during her highschool days. And, if you think brains can easily dry up, Cara proves you to be wrong. She's currently carving her own name in the State University she's in. Today's just another normal school day for our genius as she walks in the big gates of the university.
"Cara!"
She turns around, recognizing the voice easily. "Hey, you're early," she greets with a mocking tone, a playful smile painted across her light features. "That hurts Tyranny!"
Safria. A blonde girl who isn't as dumb as the other stereotypical blonde population. Her brain just works differently, I guess. She's as witty as a brunette, I tell you. So messing up with her should be in the bottom part of your to-do list.
Cara and Safria. They're best of buddies. A living testament of true, unstained friendship. Well, they've known each other since they were fetuses anyway so I guess, that kind of help them build that strong bond between them. "Hey, I just thought, maybe we can go shopping tonight, you know loosen up a little from school works, what do you think?" Cara shook her head apologetically. "I can't, you do know I still have my shift at Greg's mini mart, right?"
Sigh.
"Yeah, Okay. I'll just stay home tonight."
"Hey Saf, sorry."
"Nah, no need to be sorry. It's fine Cara. I guess I'll be babysitting Tinder then, that boy is a pain in the neck."
Cara chuckled at her best friend as she stuffs her things in her locker. "Enjoy then."
"Yeah sure. Talk to you later Cara." Cara smiles as she stares at her best friend's silhouette squeezing herself towards the unpleasant crowd building up in the hallways. She walks her way towards the library located on the second floor of the building, hoping to see books she can borrow for the essay project she's been working on these past few weeks. Dropping her things at the dusty table placed in the very corner of the library---she started scooting over book shelves.
"Human Evolution, human evolution--human, aah! There you are!"
She gracefully stretches her hand to reach the book but to no avail, she failed in doing so. She takes a step backward and jumps, barely touching the book's spine. "Okay, this is a lot harder than I thought," she let out a heavy sigh as she places her hands on either side of her hips. If only Saf is here. Yep, Safria is taller than Cara. By 1 centimeter.
At least she's taller.
"How may I help you miss?"
She turns around, meeting the warm gaze of a stranger behind her. She's been in the State University for almost 2 years but failed to see or even recognize the boy's face.
Maybe a freshman, a newbie or a transferee.
"Uh just having a hard time trying to get that book," an awkward laugh emits from Cara's mouth,"thought it was easy but turns out to be the total opposite." The stranger gives a heartwarming chuckle as he orders Cara to step aside. Obediently, Cara follows the guy's order as she clutch on her knee-length skirt.
Due to the stranger's height he easily grabs the book and turns to give it to Cara. "Thanks, uh---,"
"Sean. Sean Christians,"he said as he gives Cara a smile and a salute to go with it, leaving a big smile on Cara's face. "Cara, Cara Tyranny, nice to meet you Sean," Cara replied as she sticks out her left hand to the guy.
Handshake. A bridge towards friendship.
"Nice meeting you too."
