~chapter nine~

Bernice wrapped her long black her into a messy bun, it was almost night and the day was unneccessarily hot, she wiped some tears of her face as she tried to arrange the loose bun, she felt like joining the men', their laughters increased at every minute, even in the midst of so many she could still figure out his voice, strong, captivating

and bossy, Brent,

"hell has no fury as a woman's scorn" Brent said in a laughter ,she felt a cold shiver run through her body, his voice alone made her flinch, and she couldn't explain it,

it was not fear, it was something bigger than fear, he was no longer hostile to her, infact he nicer than she had thought and so were his men, they seemed to had accepted her as a sister, even Joshua, no longer growled at her, they made her laugh in their camp fire tales, they joked and she enjoyed every of it,

everything was perfect, though there was still no trace to Brents assasins but he seemed almost non chalant, he was a strong man, he knew how to hide his pain carefully as if he was lord perfect, but she was not,

she didn"t know how long she could hide her pain, it was eating her, she kept on remembering the look on her fathers face before he died, his last words kept ringing in her head and she knew she was soon going to loose her composure, "I love you" she remembered her father telling her, he was a loving man until her mothers death and Floras arrival,

"ma, she said almost in a whisper, "I need your help" she cried, all she had wanted these while as a prisoner was freedom from Brent ,but when hehe finally offered it, she couldn't accept it, she was lost , she was hopeless and homeless

"why are you here" she almost jumped out of her skin when the loud voice broke into her reverie, it was the voice that made her shiver,Brent's voice,

"I , I, she stammered not facing him and ,quickly wiiping off the tears on her face, damm, I was so lost in thoughts that I didn't hear his thunderous, foot step, she murmured under her breath,

"you should come join us, connel Is offering one of his best tales" he said heartedly, even without turning she could feel him smile, handsomely, what was she to do now, the least she wanted was him suspecting her,

'are you okay" he asked, as he walked to her, she felt her stomach tighte, "calm down, she warned herself,

"I am, I, I, am perfect, she lied uneasily, but before she could act, he was right infront of her, his hands on her shoulder, and for the first time she could understand his eyes, it was concern,

'are you sure, you are okay, he asked doubtfully, get your hands off me, she wanted to say, but she was dumbfounded, his scary ,domineering eyes were piercing her soul, "damm" she cursed angrily as two miserable tears fell down, before she could control it, others followed, 'damm" she cursed angrily, why are you crying like a baby, a voice yelled at her

"you are crying" he said , clear disbelief in his voice

"I'm not, she snapped angrily, pushing his hands off her shoulders and brushing off the tears on her miserable face, he stared at her, shock on his face, she could no longer bear the silence that was between them, she quickly made her way to the entrance, but he caught her wrist before she could make it out

'what?, she snapped, she was angry ,not at him but at herself, for behaving like a child, for letting his touch effect her

'where are you going"he commanded softly, she stared at him, thinking of a lie, oh God, please help me, she thought "To take a bath" she lied, damm, she didn't want a bath, not now atleast but it was the only thought that came into her mind at that time,

'I will come with you" he said in a tone that didn't give her an option to decline "I dont care, she snapped and broke free from his grip, she ran away "she cried" he thought, not that he didn't know she could cry but he thought her stronger than tears
