~chapter Ten~
he followed her track and it lead him to the river, he saw her in the pool, her shoulders vividly shaking , she was crying,
what was wrong with her , she is human, a loud voice yelled, yes she was a woman and human, but she was not any woman, he knew that from the first day he saw her, she was different he could swear to that, but this woman he saw today was not charrise, it was a woman who was hopeless, was she homeless?, the thought struck him,
maybe a small voice said, he had expected her to say freedom as her payment for saving his life, but she rather choose apologies and to smack his face, she was homeless he concluded, so homeless but how could it be possible, he thought he stopped to think and stare at her she was beautiful as she rose from the water
her black hair was long and full, her oval face seemed like it was carved, her nose was straight but small, her big round eyes were intriguing and smart, this was arkward he thought, all these while she was with him, never had he wasted so many minutes to stare at her, but now he couldn't look away, the black milkish dress she wore , hugged her body , making it easy for him to notice her full breast, flat stomach and wide hips, she was outstanding he thought,
"how old are you" he blurted out before thinking, "why did you ask that question, he scolded himself,
she stared at him, confusedly, "19" she said said avoiding his eyes, her voice was normal, he noticed ,
"19?, he asked
"dont you belief am 19
she asked narrowing her eye brow in anger, this is charrise, he murmured and he liked this charrise, the shrew not the docile one
"I do believe you ,but I'm just suprised ,that you are yet to be married , he said "which is normal for a girl your age
'I guess no man wanted a woman like me, she said amusedly, it was a lie, but he wouldn't know , would he?, she thought,
"well I do understand their plight, I guess no man wants a woman that will smack his face" he said playfully
she chuckled,which exposed her two beautiful dimple , no he convinced himself,this woman was too beautiful for any man to neglect, I bet she did have numerous suitors, he knew she was hiding something from her but he was determined to know the truth, but not today,
'indeed' she added and came out of the water, they started their way back to their camp, but it was awful, no one spoke to the other, only crickets chirping and frogs croaking , "you are awfully quiet" Brent said,
he was tired of the silence 'that should be a relief to you' she said calmly "naturally yes, but you are very unnatural, he added playfully she chuckled
"Is that a compliment?, she asked raising her eye brow to stare at him, though she was a tall woman herself but he was no doubt taller than her, he was magnificient,
"it is" he said, she nodded "I'm done talking" she said, he could detect pain in her voice as she spoke "I'm done talking ,I have seen too much in life to keep talking Brent" he was speechless, he wanted to say something but he didn't know what to say, "I'm tired she said in a sob, "life is not what, its its , her voice shoke with threatning tears "damm these tear" she said and began to cry , she quickly covered her face with her palm, he wanted to hold her, pull her to his chest and tell her all will be fine, but he couldn't ,
"you couldn't , or wouldn't a small voice spoke, "you are the reason ,she is so unhappy" the voice added, "but I didn't know she was so unhappy ,
he sighed and held her shoulders ,squeezing them like he would do to a soildeir "she is not a dammed soildeir, she is a woman, a damsel in distress, he voice roared
"Its going to be alright" he said confidently, she raised her face , her eyes were watery and her nose was red, a cold breeze ran through them followed by lightening , she shivered
"we should return to the tent, he ordered calmly, I think it will soon rain, she nodded, they walked to their camp in silence
he watched her sleep off, but he could vividly see her shoulders shake, silent sobs, her thought kept on flooding his head, but he also dozed off, it began to rain and soon ,heavily, Bernice jerked up, he also got up to see her breathing fast and crying
"are you ok" he asked concern in his voice, she was shaking, he moved to where was and cuddled her, his heart beat stopped and when it started ,it raced , its alright, he said uneasily as he carresed her hair, she soon dozed off in his arms.h
