Chapter 4 // Race track

Before you begin reading the chapter, listen to the song I added up there. I'm not sure if it actually fit the chapter but you can choose any song , but not a happy song it won't fit the chapter, annnnd you wonder why, it's just because it will give you some vibes and so I think yeah enjoy :)

Chapter 4 // Race track

We arrived home and it was 4AM, why do I always have to be awake at 4? It's because of these idiots.

"Why did you follow me" Lucas started.

"Don't" I sighed "don't start this"

"Start what? An argument? Too late"

"I don't want you to get hurt" I said calmly looking at my shoes.

"I'm not a baby Avery, I can take care of myself, and if I need protection I surely won't need it from you, you can't even protect yourself you're weak and afraid" he snapped.

I raised my head looking him straight in the eyes.

"I'm weak and afraid you're right, but once I was the opposite and you hated me. you loathed me remember?" I took a step closer.

His Adam Apple moved up and then back down.

I kept eye contact "you still hate me a little, your hatred is still there, you're still afraid that I might change again" I let out a chuckle.

"Because she's still there, I can see her in your eyes, she's gonna come back she's just waiting to strike" He yelled tears forming in his eyes making his eyes glow under the dim light.

"But I'm okay, I've made mistakes can you just leave them and these old memories in the past so we can move on"

Lucas just stood there looking at me,then he stormed out of the house.

Max hesitated if he should stay and watch over me or follow his best friend.

"Just go I'm okay" I flashed him a smile and he followed his best friend.

My legs couldn't bare my weight anymore so I just laid on the floor looking at the lights, my head spinning with thoughts.

I stayed like that until I fell asleep on the cold bare wood.

[ M A X P.O.V ]

"I don't hate her" Lucas voice cracked.

"I know you don't" i said.

"But she thinks I do and that's just make shit worse" he said.

"Your sister loves you, she might just be mad or she r-" I stopped not wanting to go there.

"Remembered the past" Lucas said with bitterness in his tone.

I sighed.

"I don't I.. I didn't I... She's my sister I don't want to.." Lucas sat on the grass looking at the city, I saw tears down his cheeks but he's trying to hide them.

"I know man I know" I said Lucas never cried, only on an accident that Involved Avery and when he almost lost his mother, other than that never even when he was beaten so badly he entered the hospital, not a single tear.

He loves his sister so much but the only problem is that he don't know how to show it, she means a lot to him and you can ask me I've been there,I saw things,I saw how he loves her, he literally threatened the whole guys in the school not to lay a finger on her because he's afraid they'll hurt her or worse, break her heart.

"I simply don't want her.... to..go b...ad again" Lucas cracked voice said I can see that it's hard on him to talk about this.

"Why do you do this to yourself man? You don't have to talk about this if its hard on you" I said "come on" I stood up.

He looked at me confused.

"Let's go" I said motioning my hands for him to follow.

We took Lucas car I drove.

We arrived.

"Seriously?" Lucas said.

"What? Let you're frustrations out" i said and we made our way inside.

It's a race track, I'm not that good at the comforting business but I think this would help a little besides Lucas loves racing so it will lighten up his mood a little.
