The customers soon started filing out at about 9pm , well all except one.  Angelo kept himself busy for the whole night and just carried on ordering coffee, which was a huge relieve for me, because I didn't have to entertain him.  As the last customer left, I cleaned the tables and made my way over to where Maria was standing.

"Quite a hectic night tonight hey!" Maria said as she finished up counting the money that we made.

"You can say that again." I breathed out, "I feel as if I'm going to pass out at any moment." I said leaning against the counter.

"Well why don't you leave early tonight?" Maria offered, "I don't want you falling asleep in here again, there's been some strange things happening."

"Like what?" I asked interested. As soon as I asked Maria that question, I felt a presence behind me. I looked behind my shoulder and saw Angelo grinning down at me.  For a brief moment we looked into eachothers eyes until I snapped out of it.

"Um... Maria this is Angelo." Angelo remained standing behind me and started to chuckle.

"Oh, we've already met." Maria said while laughing.

"You have?" I asked feeling very confused.

"Yes, while you were caught up in your work, Angelo and I got around to talking." she said winking at Angelo.

"Oh really now, about what may I ask?" I said as I put my hands on my hips.

"Now that's none of your business." Angelo said cheekily. He looked at me and then winked. The nerve of this guy.

"Alright, so back to what you were saying," I quickly changed the subject.

"Oh right!" Maria said as she slapped her forehead. Angelo suddenly seemed more interested in the conversation and took a place standing next to me. Our arms were slightly brushing, sending tingles up and down my spine.

"Well on the news recently, there was a report about a man being shot near our diner," Angelo and I shared a knowing look and then carried on listening to Maria, "so the police have warned local diners not to stay open too late, but the strange thing is, is that lately there's been a lot of men coming to the diner dressed in fancy suits."

"How many?" Angelo asked suddenly. I looked over at him and saw that his jaw was clenched and he had a serious expression on his face, whatever was going on, he sure wasn't happy about it.

"No more than three at a time?" Maria said sounding unsure.

"Maybe they work close by and they stop by for lunch?" I said, contributing to the converstaion.

"Maybe, but they're always asking for the girl who worked here the night that the guy was shot." Maria said glancing worriedly at me.

"Did you tell them?" Angelo asked urgently.

"No, of course not! I'm not going to tell them Serena's name!"

"Okay well, we'll be vigilant of them okay. They're probably just hungry and want to come and eat here." I chuckled, but I noticed that nobody was laughing, they all had serious expressions on. Tough crowd.

"Serena, maybe you shouldn't come to work for a while!" Maria said quickly.

"What, no! Why?" I asked with my voice raised.

"Maybe they'll stop coming to the shop!" Maria said, she looked pretty determined about this situation.

"I agree with Maria." Angelo said nodding with Maria.
