Kate had to see for herself. It couldn't be true. She raced through the hallways, skidding at the corners, pushing past scolding teachers. She sprinted to the outside theater, and she saw them only two feet away. Her three year boyfriend and her thirteen year best friend were kissing. Making out more like it. She choked out a sob and her hand flew to her mouth; when she was younger, she said she would never have a broken heart because she would always be expecting a break up or a cheater. But she let herself get in too deep with Brian. She let herself fall too hard and now she didn't think her heart could glue itself back together. She turned away, her hands over her eyes and ran to the bathroom as Brian yelled after her and Vanessa started to run but Kate had already locked herself in the bathroom, quietly sobbing.
"Kate! Kate, look I'm sorry! I'm so, so sorry! We-we-"
"Don't give me a bullshit excuse Vanessa!" Kate yelled, taking her head out of her hands.
"Listen! It was a dare!" Vanessa shouted.
"There's a thing called a chicken, ya know!" Kate sobbed, opening the door of the stall. Vanessa's eyes softened as her friend opened the door. Kate's mascara and eyeliner was smeared all around her eyes, making her look like she hadn't slept in months. Kate slowly walked up to Vanessa, who opened her arms for a hug. But Kate raised her hand, and slapped Vanessa with such a force that the girl stumbled back into the wall.
"What the hell, Kate!" Vanessa screamed, holding her red cheek with tears in her eyes.
"Get out," Kate said quietly, eyes watering. "Get out of here, out of my life, out of my sight you bitch," Kate spat and Vanessa scurried away. Sighing, Kate walked over to the sink to wash off her makeup and re-do it. She splashed cold water onto her pale face, and used up a roll of paper towels getting off the makeup. She reached into her purse and reapplied, and checking to make sure she looked alright, headed to study hall.

After an uneventful seventh hour, Kate started to walk home, and the full force of what had happened hit her. She lost the one she loved. She lost her best friend. She started to cry agin, pulling her hood up so no one could see. Good thing she used her waterproof mascara and eyeliner this time. As she quietly walked, her phone buzzed with a million texts from Brian and Vanessa, both apologizing for their actions, how much they loved her and how much they needed her. All the good memories. But those little golden moments were now tainted. Blue and black. Bruised from the punches of the two. While she read the texts without answering any, she wasn't looking where she was going. Instead of her phone, she now saw dull gray pavement. Sighing, she pushed her self up into a crossed legged position, and glanced around for what tripped her. A flash of bright green and navy blue was seen in her outer vision and by instinct she turned to what it was.
"What the hell?! Are you Stitch or something?!" She screamed. A husky sized dog sat in front of her, big pointed ears sprouting out of its head and sharp teeth gleaming in the sun. It's matted green and blue fur stuck out among the stone buildings as it wagged its tail. Kate slowly inched forward, scooting around the dog. It turned it's head, following her movements. When she got back around to where she started, the dog jumped onto her, and started covering her in doggy slobber.
"Hey, Stitch! Stop that!" She laughed, gently pushing in the dog's green chest. Sighing, she scooped up the dog and headed home.

IN LIONES

"Where is he?!" King yelled, tearing through the tavern.
"Where is who, King?" Diane asked. King sighed as he lifted up another pillow.
"Oslo! He's always gone when I need him!" King muttered, crossing his arms over his chest. Diane patted his head, and a slow red rose color spread over King's face.
"You'll find him!" She smiled.

BACK AT KATE'S HOUSE
"Hey, Mom! Do we have any of Shamrock's old food?" Kate called through the house.
"Yeah, it's in the garage!" Her mother replied. Kate picked herself off the floor as she walked into the below freezing garage in bare feet. Tip toeing to the large shining bag of food, she scooped out some of the kibble into a bowl and ran back inside with a final shiver. After getting a bowl of water, she plopped onto the couch with a Cadburys chocolate bar. Brushing a strand of honey colored hair out of her face, she turned on the TV as her phone buzzed again. Brian had sent her an old picture of them, she was smiling while he was just looking at her. He looked happy. Kate looked ecstatic. She had always thought she liked him more than he liked her, and now she knew it was true. The picture showed her the truth. With a shaky breath, she put her phone down and watched Aladdin.
"Gotta stay, one jump ahead of the breadline, one swing ahead of the sword," she watched Aladdin duck and dodge all the soldiers attempts to slice him in half. She wished she could have a happy ever after, but life isn't a Disney movie. She sighed unevenly  took another bite of her chocolate bar.
