Day before the Little League World Series starts

{Luna}

"I can't believe all of the games were canceled today" Gwen says spinning around in her swivel chair in her office at headquarters.

"I know right" I say "some players were sliding down the muddy hill while it was pouring hard earlier today"

I love the rain. The smell of it on concrete, the color of the rain clouds, everything about rain.

My phone starts to ring, and I answer it with out looking at the caller ID.

"Hello?"

"Come hang with me in the activities room" a familiar voice says "I'm going to watch a movie"

I look at the caller ID and I see that this is Cole's number, but it doesn't sound like Cole's voice.

"Is this Walker pretending to have an Australian accent?" I guess

"Nope"

"Who is it?" I ask "if you tell me then I'll go"

"It's the best Australian in the world, Luke" he tells me "see you in a couple minutes"

I tell Gwen that I'm leaving, and she nods and continues to do her work.

When I reach the front of the activities room I swipe my VIP pass and the door unlocks.

I open it and I see a few familiar faces, and some people I have yet to meet.

I see Cole sitting on a couch with a curly haired boy—I think his name is Jaden—and I walk over to him.

I sit in the empty spot by Cole and I wait for him to look at me.

After two minutes, he finally looks up from his phone "oh hi Luna!"

He greets me with a small side hug.

"Hey, Luke called me from your phone and told me to come over" I say

"That's what he was doing on my phone-"

"What's happening ladies?" Luke says from behind the coach and then sits beside me.

Cole immediately grabs my hand, but continues to look at his phone, and I mentally shake my head. He better do this to all his friends because he said he'd treat me like his friends.

"Hi Luke" I say and smile at him.

"What movie should we watch?" He asks, kind of eyeing Cole's hand in mine.

I let go of Cole's hand and then reply to Luke "I don't really care, do you have one in mind?"

"What about the Amazing Spider-Man?" He suggests

I agree and then he gets the DVD to put in the tv.

As he is doing that Cole decides that it's better to put his arm around my shoulders and I lean on his shoulder to whisper to him "Why are you doing this?"

"Doing what?" He asks looking up from his phone, try to act innocent.

"Holding my hand. Putting your arm around me. Do you do that to all of your friends?" I ask already knowing his answer

"No" he whispers "but I also don't kiss my friends"

The nerve of this kid.

"Whatever"

I lift my head from his shoulder, but I don't move his arm.

"Do you know how to work this?" Luke asks my handing my the remote.

I nod my head, and then I start the movie.

I don't really enjoy movies because the are too long for me, but I'm okay with this movie because Andrew Garfield is in it, and he is a Greek god sent down on earth from above to bless all of the world.

I rest my head against Cole's shoulder again, and close my eyes because I just want to rest.

A few minutes after I close my eyes, I hear Cole and Luke talking.

"I knew it" Luke whispers to Cole as the movie is still playing "you do like her"

Cole moves his arm from my shoulders, to around my back so that his hand is resting on my side "no it's not like that at all"

"Then what is it like?"

"We're. Friends." I hear him say.

"Stop saying that because it's so obvious" Luke says to Cole

"So what if I do?" Cole asks him

"Simple. Grow a pair and then ask her out"

"I don't like her that way. I was seeing what you would say" he says and I suddenly don't feel so tense anymore.

"Like I'm going to believe you. You were trying to hold her hand and now you have your arm wrapped around her"

"I don't-"

"Face the facts Cole" I hear Luke say, and then I feel him move out of his seat beside me.

I hear Cole sigh and then I pretend that I just woke up by moving around a little but underneath his arm.

"Hi Cole" I say to him and then pretend to act like I didn't know Luke left "where did Luke go?"

"Hey sleeping beauty, and he has practice now that the rain has died down, so he had to leave" he lies easily to me.

"Luna I was meaning to tell you something" Jaden says from beside Cole "my friend Jacey, and her three other friends, are coming here tomorrow. I was thinking—only if you wanted to—you guys should hang out"

I slightly smile at him "oh okay, I think I will"

"Jacey is his best friend" Cole whispers to me by my ear

"Best friends? or more than that?" I ask him

"That is confidential information that I can not tell you about" he tells me with a contagious smile.

I'll find out soon enough

Sorry about the short chapter

Okay so I only put up two chapters because the next set of chapters will be about the LLWS and then the end of the story should be a little after that.

It's not going to be a very long story because I have two others, and I will be editing all of NLS and then eventually republish it.
