Pregnant [chapter 3]

"yes mum, I'll be fine... " I muttered. Mum had been asking me questions ever since I told her that I was sleeping over at Lexi's.

"mum, Lexi's calling me and it's urgent, I'll call you back maybe later. Bye" I lied and hung up.

"you should have informed your mum earlier Scarlett, then maybe she wouldn't be so worried about you" Lexi said, sitting down beside me and patting my back.

"yea, but we weren't home that time so I couldn't call her" I muttered rubbing my grumbling stomach. Even though I already ate at McDonalds, I was still hungry, or is it the pregnancy thing?

"your baby's hungry. C'mon I think dinner's ready" Lexi snickered.

"ok,"

Lexi's mum already knew I was pregnant because Lexi informed her. I didn't exactly mind Lexi's mum knowing because she had Lexi when she was only 15 which was younger then me.

"mum is dinner ready? Scarlett is hungry" Lexi called to her mum who was busy in the kitchen.

"yes sweetie, 5 more mins, do you mind laying the table for me?" Lexi's mum asked.

"nope, c'mon Scarlett" Lexi smiled as she grabbed my hand and pulled me into the kitchen.

We bustled around, putting the plates and glass in the correct place before Lexi's mum came out with the main dish, macaroni and cheese. She put it in the middle, then wiped the sweat away from her face before smiling sweetly at me "sorry dinners late hun, I know how it feels like"

I smiled meekly back at her "it's ok,"

"your baby should be starving too. You should see how I ate when I was 5 months pregnant with Lexi, " Lexi's mum fake a sigh but smiled lovingly at her daughter "though I'm glad I kept her. Look how she turned out to be"

"yea... " I smiled.

"well, take your places girls,"

We took our places and Lexi's mum scooped for us a portion of the macaroni.

Lexi didn't have a dad ever since she was born. Her dad died in an accident When she was 3 months in her mother's stomach. Her older brother.... Luke, became a 'father' and elder brother to her since then.

I looked down at my small stomach. I don't mind keeping my child, but I'm worried about the the baby's dad. What if he rejects the baby? how will I manage?

"still hungry sweetheart?"

I looked up to see Lexi's mum smiling at me.

"uh, no" I stuttered.

"ah yes, the baby needs protein. I made some fruit salad, wait a moment" she smiled and got up.

"your mums ever so kind. I wish my mum is like that" I sighed.

Lexi chuckled. "every mum is great in there own way"

I nodded at her just as her mum came out with a bowl of fruit salad.

"there you go sweetie, eat as much as you want. There's some more in the kitchen"

I thanked her profusely and ate the fruit salad, sharing with Lexi. Her mum only had a bite of lettuce and said she was full.

By the time our dinner ended, it was close to 11pm. "opps, I forgot about the time, it goes too fast When you're having fun, anyways, go to bed the two of you or you wouldn't be able to wake up tomorrow morning. I'll clear the dishes" Lexi's mum beamed.

"thanks mum, nites" Lexi said, hugging her mother.

"Goodnight honey, sleep tight, don't let the bugs bite," her mum laughed.

Lexi chuckled "see you tomorrow morning then"

"yeap, nites Scarlett"

"goodnight" I replied.

Me and Lexi went up to her room and changed into our pyjamas. I borrowed Lexi's cute panda pyjamas and headed towards her bed. She insisted I slept on the bed while she slept downstairs in the sleeping bag because of the baby.

"nite Lexi"

"goodnight Scarlett"

I woke up extra early the next morning too make sure I had extra time to curl my hair. I just felt like curling it and Lexi had the item for it.

I wore her tights and striped tops before using simple makeup. By the time I was done, Lexi was ready too. She just used a casual t-shirt and jeans.

"ready?" Lexi grinned at me.

"yep," I replied, smiling back.

We headed downstairs and grabbed a few toast which Lexi's mum made before we left. Apparently, she went back to sleep after making for us breakfast.

I borrowed Lexi's lace up heels before grabbing my school bag. Just as we were about to leave, a voice that sent chills down my spine made us stop.

"morning girls" he smiled.

I turned around and felt blood rising to my cheeks. He was shirtless and his messy hair which indicated he just woke up.

"morning Luke" Lexi smiled.

I just nodded my head and turned back around. I mentally slapped my face. How could I be so careless.

"bye Lexi... Scarlett" Luke grinned.

"bye, remember don't be so late" Lexi wagged a finger towards Luke.

He chuckled "oh anyway Scarlett, you look great"

I blushed even redder then before.

"let's go, sorry my brother came out like that. You know him" Lexi muttered, oblivious to my red face.

"yea... " I answered.

"are you blushing? you don't have a crush on my brother do you?" Lexi questioned, her head turned to the side to face me.

"of course no! you know the two of us... don't get along" I pretended to be angry but I was trembling inside.
