Chapter 1: New and old

We were running.

Nothing out of the norm with my companion, Viola, a small blonde french girl I picked up back when she was visiting London. Viola Petit was her name and I can describe everything about her, all but her eyes. Her eyes seem to hold all of time and space with swirls of blues, greens, purples, and oranges. That's what intrigued me to take her with me. Well that's what sealed the deal. Earlier that night, she saw me appear in my red telephone booth. We laughed and talked it over coffee. One of the many inventions I'm glad humans thought of. Especially a good caramel frappe.

It's her birthday today. Today, Viola Petit turns 23. We were suppose to go get coffee like the first time we met in London. Viola always told me there was this "fantabulous" new coffee shop she wanted to go to, but the old girl had other plans.

As we were on track to London, the TARDIS lurched off track and led us somewhere else. A spaceship, not that far from Earth, ready to invade. Of course, we had to save the Earth once again. Now what were we running from? Daleks. Stupid, stupid, stupid Daleks. Forgot why they were attacking though. All I heard was 'Blah blah blah I will destroy the earth blah blah Daleks blah blah we are superior blah.' as the leader was explaining.

I did was trick them into fighting with each other while I set the ship to self destruct and dead-locked it. Smart huh? The Daleks didn't seem to like that idea very much and chased Viola and I out with their guns disguised as whisks. Viola pointed that one out to me. Now that you know how we got into this brilliant mess, I shall now go back to the running.

Viola was starting to lag behind as the voice on the intercom announced that we had a minute left until the ship exploded. Since I disabled and dead-locked all the escape pods as well, their only plan was to annihilate us. Good plan don't you think?

"Exterminate! EX-TER-MIN-NATE!!" The Daleks yelled from behind shooting more whisk lasers at us. Viola and I ran like our lives depended on it (which it did) when the intercom said we had thirty-seconds left. Flinging the lovely red door open, I ran in and slammed it right after Viola. We both stood there, panting before Viola stopped and fell to the ground. Her breathing hard and heavy as she bled out. Out from a laser wound right below her heart. No...No no no no no no no no NO!! Not Viola!!

"V-Viola? Viola!" I yelled and ran towards her, pressing my hand to her wound. Her head rested on my lap. Tears came to my eyes when she opened hers. They weren't shining like usual. They were dull and dying. My hands were covered in blood. My best friends blood.

"Hey Autumn..." She said, voice hoarse and raspy. "What are you crying about? This? It's just a flesh wound. I'll live." That's my Viola, always looking on the bright side.

"N-No it's not! You're dying and it's all my fault..." My voice was hardly over a whisper and full of pain. She just smiled at me.

"Goodbye my great Time Lord, you were the best friend anyone can ever have. We had the best of times, good and bad. If I could, I would re-live them all, and guess what?"

"Wh-what?"

"We were fantabulous." Her eyes closed and she went limp in my arms. I cried even harder hugging her body close to me. All our moments together flashed through my mind. Good and bad, but they were all enjoyable to see again. I squeezed my eyes shut as cries rocked my body.

"VIOLA!!!"

I woke up with a jolt, tears still streaming down my face and I was covered in sweat. Taking a shaky breath, I got out of my bed. The digital clock beside me read 3:47 a.m. Oh well, I don't need sleep anyways. Swinging my legs off my bed, I made my way to the bathroom. I washed my face and stared at my reflection. That was 10 years ago, but it feels like it was just yesterday. In that time period, I've regenerated twice. My current generation is probably my favourite so far.
