Winter's PoV

"Ready to go?" Jackson asked.

"As ready as I'll ever be," I replied with a small sigh. "I don't see why you chose this as our annual trip. You know I'm horrible at swimming, and I'm afraid of water." Every month since we started dating, Jackson and I have been taking small, short trips to different places. This month, as it's August and therefore Jackson's turn to choose where we go, we are going fishing on Bear Lake.

"Don't worry, I'll protect you," Jackson replied with a wink. I felt my cheeks going warm. Even though I've known this guy since birth basically, he can always make me blush, and it can be very infuriating.

Jackson pushed the two-person canoe slightly into the water, and gestured for me to get in. I shook my head while quietly laughing at his gentleman-ness, and climbed in the front seat. As he climbed in behind me, he rocked the boat a little bit, and i grabbed the edges to steady it, even though i knew it wouldn't do anything.

"Calm down, we're ok. It's just like being rocked to sleep," Jackson murmered softly, trying to calm me down.

"Yeah, a PERMANENT sleep," I muttered under my breath. Jackson chuckled, handed me an oar while taking one for himself, and pushed us off into the water.

"Can we head back now?" I pleaded with Jackson. "We've been here all day! We have 4 fish, and I'm pretty sure I have a 3rd degree sunburn." I was only partly joking.

"Oh, calm down you big baby. We'll head back soon. Just make sure you put on some more sun screen, you are a little sunburnt." He tossed me our spray-on sunscreen, and I lathered myself up with it.

While I was sunscreening, Jackson was looking around the lake, as by then we were floating in the middle of it, where we could see everything.

"Hey Winter, look over there! That looks like a blue bird." Jackson called.

I looked over where he was pointing, but I saw nothing but the lake, the trees, and the sky. "Where? I don't see anythi-" as i looked back over at Jackson, my eyes started to tear up and I put my hand over my mouth. He was down on one knee in the canoe, and there was a ring in his hand.

"I lied," he said, noticing that I saw him. "There was no bird. But I wasn't lying when I said I would I would protect you. Winter May Casburry, I want to be the one to hold you when you're scared, chase away the bad thoughts and dreams, and protect you with my life if necessary. Would you make me the happiest man in the world, and marry me?"

By now I had tears streaming down my face, and I didn't trust my voice, so instead I nodded and threw myself at him, tackling him with a hug. As I pulled back and let him put the ring on my finger, a loud knocking sound came from the forest on the side of the lake. Soon after, I heard a voice -it sounded like my mom's voice- yelling from the same place-"Winter! Hurry and get up or you'll be late for your first day of Senior year!"

I was dreaming.

Hey Everyone!

So this is my first real wattpad book, so don't judge me if it's not so good for the first few chapters.

Also, I just want to clarify that the whole book won't be written in italics, just the parts when Winter's dreaming. :)

I will try to update at least once a week, probably toward the end of the week.

The song I attached was just something that I thought was really cute and explained how Jackson felt toward Winter in this dream.

Here's 5 quick facts about myself before i go-
1) my name is aspen
2) i love to read
3) i tend to sometimes procratinate (so i apologize in advance for late updates)
4) im in 8th grade
5) im using real life experiences as inspiration for this story
