extended summary:

Two broken people find the missing pieces of themselves in the other; both wanting to be fixed, they end up fixing each other.

Oliver York; nineteen years old with no plans for the future. One fatal accident changed his life and his perspective. No longer the daring individual, or the enigmatic guitarist he once was, he was left hateful of all music.

Quinn Stevens; eighteen year old rock star, and a symbol to the rebels of the world. With a smirk and a devil-may-care attitude, she hated the world and the world hated her back. She left a story behind, and never expected to be thrown back into it.

Quinn wants to show Oliver how beautiful music is. Oliver wants to show Quinn how beautiful the simple things in life are.

Two intertwining melodies; one reckless serenade.

RECKLESS SERENADE

reck·less [rek-lis]

adjective

1. utterly unconcerned about the consequences of some action; without caution; careless (usually followed by of ): to be reckless of danger.

2. characterized by or proceeding from such carelessness: reckless extravagance.

► IN THE DAYS of new beginnings and the memories of the past, somehow we all ended up being careless one way or another. Back then, we were young and innocent; we were naive and rash. We were reckless.

There was a need for freedom and endless possibilities. There was a time when absolutely nothing could go wrong. The prospect of chasing after your dreams was a distinct hope that some yearned to reach, while others pursued it.

Life was something amazing, and people wanted to make the best out of it. Those people were reckless in their own way, overpassing boundaries that others may not have even dared to cross. They were bold and daring; they wanted to get out of their suburbia, their walls, their locked towers. So they jumped. They jumped over the pools of doubt and the trenches of hopelessness to make their dreams a reality.

Others were reckless in a more oppressive way. Their dreams became nightmares as they continued reaching and reaching but were always a centimeter away from catching onto the image of who they wanted to be. Spiralling into shells of their former selves, they became lost and confused in the large, wide world. In time, they were given a second chance, but it was their choice whether or not to take it.

We are all reckless in a way; though the extremity of our carelessness varies through our differences and the way we perceive it. You might look at a person and deem him reckless at one glance. Others, you may not see their ambition and energy until you get to know them well. Take a look at me, and what do you see?

I am reckless; I am young. I've done things I regret; I've done things I'm proud of. I've broken hearts, and I've fallen in love. I've also changed. Sure, I'm still reckless, but I'm no longer a shadow of who I used to be. Instead, I chase after my dreams and I believe that one day, I can achieve them.

Take a look at it this way; the world is one, gigantic stage. The people around you are the symphony orchestra, the dancers, the actors, the tech workers. You are the conductor, the manager, the owner of the stage. It's up to you to decide, it's up to you to perceive it. Everyone is singing, and they are all singing the same song. Just for you. Because your decisions affect them, and your decisions matter. You're swept up in a lulling serenade, full of choices and dreams and love and pain and hurt. This is your life. It's up to you to decide what happens.

Let's just say... it's a reckless serenade.

This story will be written in two perspectives; Oliver and Quinn. Their point of views might not be alternated every chapter, but you will be able to tell who is narrating from the title of the chapter. I hope you all enjoy Reckless Serenade because this story is going to be a little bit more personal and hopefully show my improvement in writing over the years. This sneak peak is dedicated to olafed, because she made the lovely cover. On the side is another cover made by weeknder. <3
