Last Chapter

CHANTEL’S POV

It feels so lonely without Chloe. It’s been two days and I don’t know what to do with myself. I walk around the apartment singing along to Bill Withers.

“Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone. It’s not warm when she’s away. Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone, and she’s always gone too long anytime she goes away.” I start swaying back and forth.

Suddenly there is a pair of arms wrapping around me from behind. “You know that you could always call Chloe. I’m sure she’s missing you too.” He says. I could, but I don’t want to look desperate!!!

Me and Josh carry on swaying to the beat of the music. I turn around to look at him, and he is in deep thought. “What you thinking about?” I ask. “Why don’t you move in with me? I have enough space, and you feel lonely. Don’t go denying it.” He looks at me with those hopeful eyes of his. Nothing’s stoping me. “Ok. When do you want me to move in?” He doesn’t even take one second to think about it. He yells “Now!!! We have nothing else to do, and I’m really bored.”

In six hours we get everything packed and moved to Josh’s house. We have some food and unpack everything. It looks like a home. I’m not saying it didn’t before, but now it looks like our home. “Home sweet home” Josh says, giving me a side hug.

It’s from now that my life is going to start. The kids birthday parties, the celebrations over Josh’s movies, loads. Am I scared…? I’m petrified!!! But that’s the best part, because I have the most caring person to anchor me. To keep me safe. And most of all, to love me for who I am. I have the most amazing friend ever, who is doing the same. But this isn’t the end. This is the beginning.

“Yeah. Home sweet home.”

My life… it’s a dream come true.
