Chapter 1

Have you ever met someone so perfect for you, but you just didn't notice they were perfect until it was too late?

I have been there, I am there. He is so perfect for me in every way it has taken me twelve years to realise... I AM IN LOVE WITH MY BEST FRIEND.

Year of 2004

First day in a new school is always nerve racking, I was due to start a week previously but a family holiday fell over the first day of high school. Unfortunately for me I had to start a new a school a week after everyone had made their friends.

I arrived at the school gate trembling I had never been so nervous for anything. Me and my mum headed to the school reception to find out my tutor group I felt sick to the stomach as she gave me something that sounded like robot talk ''You are in 7N4, tutor room is lower school room 42 A.''

I looked at her blankly ''I am sorry where?''

My mum nudged me for being rude and the receptionist continued ''The tutors are in a meeting, once Miss Pope comes out of the meeting, I'll grab her and you can walk down together, just take a seat there.''

I nodded ''Thanks.''

My mum gave me a hug and kissed my cheek ''Good luck.''

I smiled as she left me, I was sat playing on my phone. The bell finally rung and teachers came swarming out of the teacher lounge ''Oh, Karen.''

A blonde slender women turned to face the receptionist "Sally?"

"This is Ava, one of your students."

She turned to face me with a beaming smile reached her hand out "hello, I am Miss Pope. Follow me to class."

I smiled back and got up to follow her, it was a long awkward walk which was full of small talk about the weather. We finally reached the class room where about twenty students were waiting outside, ''everyone take their assigned seats, Ava follow me to the front."

Miss Pope looked at her seating plan and I saw my name written down next to some kid named Jim which looking at the class was the only boy without anyone next to him, Miss Pope turned to the class and carried on speaking "Hello, we have a new class mate with us! Ava, would you like to tell everyone a little bit about yourself?"

My hands start shaking as everyone turns to look at me, wide eyes on me I felt like it was feeding time at the zoo and I was the food, I gulped and smiled "Hell-o m-y I'-m Ava. I want to be a nurse someday and I love star wars."

The class laughed and I made my way to my seat, ''Hello, I am Jim."

The skinny guy, with fluffy hair smiled at me ''I am Ava."

"I know, you just said" he laughed

"Sorry, I am sorry."

He nudged me in a playful way "Hey, no need to be sorry."

"Sorry."

He laughed "What class have you got next?''

"I am in Drama with a Mr. Dann, Yourself?"

"Me too" He smiled.

"Thank god because I'll probably get lost looking for the class"

He laughed at me again, Miss Pope started calling out the register, shortly after the bell rung and everyone started packing their bags up to make their way to their next class. Jim led the way to the drama hall where our drama class will take place.

Mr. Dann was a young chubby man with a lot of facial hair, ''Good morning class'' he smiled.

''To start today we are going to do a trust exercise, I want you all to partner up."

Oh, I hate this part of class partners, I do not know anyone at all ''Ava, you can partner up with me if you like.''

Jim smiled at me, I nodded. Proceeding to throw ourselves into each other's arms, literally crying with laughter because I dropped Jim like five times. Mr Dann clapped his hands ''Right now I want groups of four to five – I want you to create something based on betrayal.''

Me and Jim, teamed up with two other girls from our tutor group Olivia and Kacey. We came up with an idea of an affair, me and Jim was married and he cheats on me with Kacey my friend and Olivia is the friend that tells me. It was very boring really, but I got to slap Jim which was fun.
