Chapter 1:

The word nervous in my vocabulary is the weakest word to use in a situation like this. It also happened to be the biggest understatement possible.

You see when I was at school earlier today, my best friend Luke said he had something very important to tell me. Well my day went by slower than a sloth in a marathon. Like I literally think I could have planted molasses at my house and it would be full grown by the time I returned home that very same day. So I wasn't over reacting when I cheered in my gym class, gaining everyone's attention, the second the bell rang signaling that school was over.

I sprinted so fast to my car that the people around me felt the need for a jacket do to the sudden gust of wind. Okay so maybe that was a little over the top dramatic, but you get the point. The second my 2010 escalade roared to life I sped out of the parking lot and quickly drove home.

"Mom!" I yelled quite impatiently waiting for a response. "YES HONEY?" she yelled back. "When is David coming over?" I asked feeling a burning itch in my dry throat the second I harshly spat out the jerks name. David was my mom's boyfriend and he was the one who has made her happy for the past couple months after my father rudely left us. "At six?" she said and I quickly glanced at my beautiful wrist watch. Luke had given it to me as a 5-year anniversary present. No, before you ask, we are not dating (unfortunately).

But instead it was our 5-year anniversary as friends and he gave me this beautiful white watch with a diamond border. When I looked down at my watch it read 3;45.

"Okay, Luke is coming over in an hour so please don't be weird!" I said dropping my bag by the door and walking into the kitchen. "No promises!" she said coming downstairs and giving me a wink.

"Not funny mom." I said grabbing a glass and filling with some water before shooting her a death glare.

"Hey by the way. What's for dinner?" I asked looking at her skeptically. She had her long blonde hair wrapped up in a sophisticated, yet elegant, ponytail with very minimal makeup. She was wearing a dark purple dress that fell to about her mid thighs and hugged her nicely with some black pumps to match it.

"Or are you going out to eat?" I said after fully taking in her appearance. That's when I finally noticed that she was wearing her contacts that showed off her big hazel eyes.

"We're going out." she said. "Oh. Well then can Luke stay here for dinner with me to keep me company?" I asked with a beautiful spark of hope growing in the pit of my stomach. "Well I don't see why not." she said.

"Okay. Thanks mom." I said walking over and kissing her cheek. "By the way," I said turning around and dwelling on the word by. "You look good." I said and she gave me a genuine smile as a response. "Don't stay out too late ad behave your self." I told her walking up the stairs. I felt a small smirk tugging itself at the corners of my mouth even though she couldn't see me. When I got upstairs I set my glass of water down and went into my bathroom to get ready.

After I finished my relaxing shower I glanced at the clock hanging on my wall and noticed that I only had 30 minutes left. I went to my closet and pulled out a cropped grey T-shirt that hung lightly on my shoulders and exposed just a little bit of skin at the bottom of my stomach. I quickly threw on some shorts and put my blackberry on it's charger. I went back into my bathroom, brushed my teeth, and put my hair in a messy bun.

A knock at my bedroom door is what grasped all my attention and I was shocked to see Luke enter. "Aren't you supposed to wait until I say 'come in' to actually come in?" I asked jokingly. But he just looked down on the floor and guilt took washed over his angelic features.

"Hey what's wrong?" I asked with concern laced in my voice.

"Umm.." he said walking over to my bed. "Can we sit down?" he asked and look up at me with saddened eyes.

"Um yea I guess.." I said hesitantly walking over and sitting next to him.

"Anna.." he started putting his hand on my thigh. My breath hitched in my throat and I suddenly felt like I couldn't breathe. but he didn't seem fazed by it.

"I have really bad news." He said as his thumb started to trace circles on my leg. "Luke you're scaring me." I said honestly. "What's going on?" I asked genuinely worried.

Like I said before, the word nervous in my vocabulary is the weakest word to use in a situation like this. And it also happened to be the biggest understatement possible.

"We're going away to Hawaii." he said giving me a sad smile. I was completely and utterly confused, to say the least.

"That's awesome!" I said shouting. "You always wanted to go on vacation in Hawaii." I said smiling broadly. "But why do you look so sad?" I asked, my smile faltering a little.

"Because when I say going away. I mean moving away. My dad got stationed there." he said. I swear I saw a single tear slip down his flawless cheek.

Realization washed over my face and I was suddenly over whelmed by what he was saying to me. My vision was significantly blurred by my tears as each individual one fell down my face.

He was going to leave..

He was leaving me..

The love of my life was leaving me...

And that's when everything went black.
