Chris and Pj had spent the whole photography lesson out in the field, hidden in the forest. Pj was basically clinging onto Chris, whispering apologies to him every so often. Pj seemed to getting just as attached as Chris was, but he wasn't being annoying about it. But what confused Chris the most, was that Pj wasn't even talking about the kiss he gave to Chris. Not a single word. He was just holding Chris, like no one has ever held him before. He really was enjoying it.
"I think we should get moving now, I'll wait outside the building with you until your mum gets here." Pj spoke up, before gently lifting Chris to his feet. "Okay, thank you. How exactly are you getting home?" Chris replied, feeling quite lost when Pj moved away to pack up his blanket, before hanging his bag over his shoulders. "I walk, I don't live too far from here."
Oh no
The guys, they said they'd come back for Pj.This made Chris feel extremely sick and nervous, he needed to stop Pj from going alone- but he couldn't just leave without his mum. "Wait- the guys that beat me up, they-" Chris began, but stopped when Pj brought his hand up to caress Chris' cheek. "Chris, forget about them. They're not going to get you again, I promise." As much as Chris wanted to just stand there, taking in the feeling of Pj's hand on his cheek, he couldn't let Pj get beaten up too. "No, no no! You don't understand, they said they'd do the same to you. You can't walk alone, you just can't. They could hurt you much more than they hurt me. Please, call your mum to come and get you or something!" Chris begged, his eyes were tearing up. Pj had a very confused look on his face, "Neither my mother or my father drive, I don't have any other choice. I'll be fine, honestly. I literally live five minutes away, I'll be home in no time. Give me your number, I'll message you as soon as I get home, I promise."
My number..shit, my phone!
"Shit- you can't call me, they broke my phone, it's still on the road in town." Chris felt even more panicked than before, he had no way of knowing if Pj got home safe. "Oh, well- I'll be okay." Pj nodded and began to walk ahead, looking rather cheery.
"Wait! Maybe my mum could drive you home? She's really kind, she wouldn't mind, I swear!" Chris called out, before running up behind Pj. "Are you sure?" Pj looked back at Chris. And then- a smile appeared on his face. But it was different, it looked like he just thought of the best idea ever, which kind of worried Chris. "Yes..what's that look for?" Chris raised an eyebrow, before feeling Pj's arm wrap around his shoulders.
"Do you think your mum would let me sleep over at yours? There's a bit of drama happening between my parents, I'd rather stay at yours. Besides, there's no college tomorrow, we could hang out all day." Pj grinned even more as he awaited Chris' response. "Oh, well, sure. She wouldn't mind that either. She really is the kindest person on the planet."
Pj is sleeping over? We could totally binge watch every The walking dead episode!
Chris smiled as they made their way to the parking lot, seeing Chris' mum already parked up. She must have super vision, because she got out of the car before Chris or Pj even saw her. "Chris, sweetie! What happened?" She called out, before cupping Chris' face in both of her hands. She even began to tear up. "He was beaten up by a group of boys in town, miss. They broke his phone, and they ran off." Pj replied for Chris, watching his mother fuss over Chris' wounds. "Mum, it's okay. Pj helped, they're gone now."
Chris' mum looked at Pj with a wide smile, her tear filled eyes making her look extremely thankful. "Oh, thank you, Pj. You're such a sweetheart." She spoke, before giving Pj a hug, making Pj smile widely. "Mum, Pj is having some trouble at home with his parents, I was wondering if he could stay over for the night?" Chris asked, his mum nodding eagerly in response as she pulled away. "Of course he can, how about I order some pizza for dinner?"
The boys exchanged excited glances, before they all climbed into the car. Chris sitting in the back with Pj to keep him company. "Is your mother homophobic?" Pj whispered into Chris' ear. "No, no, she's the most accepting person you will ever meet. She literally screeched with excitement when I came out." Chris replied with a smile, noticing Pj exhale deeply, followed by a smile. This made Chris think that Pj's parents were homophobic. Ouch.
Once they all got back to Chris', his mum ordered the food as Chris headed upstairs to change out of his dirty and bloodstained clothes, into some warm and soft pyjamas. "Pj? Do you wanna borrow some pyjamas?" Chris called out, before heading Pj's footsteps coming up the stairs. "Yeah, please. Is it safe to come in?" He asked as he waited outside Chris' bedroom door. "Yep, come in." Chris replied, smiling at Pj as he entered.
Chris turned and looked through his clothes drawer, looking through his pyjamas. "Would any of your clothes even fit me? You're smaller than I am." Pj spoke up, leaning over Chris' shoulder. "Yeah, I like wearing baggy pyjamas or old clothes when I go to sleep, these should be fine for you." Chris smiled and pulled out a pair of sweatpants and an old shirt, which had 'Evanescence' printed on it, the writing being slightly faded from the amount of times it had been worn. Chris cringed slightly, before turning to Pj. "Ignore the text, I went through a phase." Chris smiled shyly, handing the clothes to Pj.
Pj chuckled and took them from Chris, before leaning in to kiss his cheek. "Don't worry, I think it's cute. Can I use the shower?" He asked, moving away from Chris, who's face was completely red. "Yeah..it's the room opposite mine- the bathroom." Chris smiled as Pj walked out and into the bathroom. Chris grabbed his duvet and dragged it downstairs, curling up on the sofa. His mum walking into the living room with a couple of drinks in her hand. "Hi, sweetie. Where's Pj?" She asked, setting the two drinks on the coffee table. "These are yours and Pj's." She smiled, sitting on the sofa opposite the one Chris was sitting on. "Thanks mum, and he's just using the shower real quick." Chris replied, getting a nod from his mum.
Talk about timing, Pj came downstairs at the exact same time as the pizza guy came to the door. His mum stood up to answer it, Pj took his seat next to Chris. "Hi walker boy." He whispered, scooting closer to Chris and wrapping an arm around his shoulder.
I will never get tired of that name.
"Hi, what do you wanna watch whilst we eat?" Chris replied, watching as Pj pulled the duvet over himself as well as Chris. "Whatever you and your mum want to watch." Pj smiled, leaning his head on top of Chris'. "The walking dead? Season 1-6?" Chris asked, grinning as Pj nodded with his own little smile.
Chris' mum entered the room with the pizzas, handing one to each of the boys before taking her seat on the other sofa. "What are we watching, guys?" She asked, picking up the TV remote. "The walking dead, please." Chris replied, opening his pizza box to take a slice. His mum smiled and looked through their TV recordings, clicking on the first season and episode of The walking dead, before putting the remote down.
They all tucked into their food and drinks, Chris and Pj being the only two who's eyes were glued to the screen as they ate. A lot of tears and screams passed, along with a few giggles. Pj had kept his arm around Chris' shoulder, occasionally leaning down to kiss his forehead, followed by small giggles coming from Chris' mum. It truly was a calming and perfect night.
