Lucas noticed something as he passes the art room. Blond. He walked back and looked through the window in the door. There was a girl with her back faced towards him as she painted. Maya.
"I found her." Riley and Farkle stopped and They entered. Maya turned around as the door opened.
"We were looking for you. What are you painting?" Asked Lucas.
"It's nothing." He peeked around her shoulder to see a beautiful dream catcher but it was broken.
"Um here." Said Lucas, handing the sketch book to her. She looked up at him.
"Did you look through it?" He nodded. She sighed and turned back to her painting. He sat down next to her.
"I'm sorry."
"For what?"
"For kissing Riley."
"I don't care that you kissed her."
"You're not mad?"
"Ya I'm mad. I'm mad because you just strung me along. If you cared than you would have just told me that you wanted her. "
"I was confused and we were dating..."
"You don't have to date me to care about my feelings. You just have to be a friend. I guess you're not." She said standing up and putting the brush in the water. She grabbed the pallet and went to the table with the paint. He followed as Riley and Farkle stood by the door, awkwardly.
"Look, I didn't know what I was doing to you and it's not like you told us how you felt."
"Well I tried. I opened up and it didn't work. I don't want to hurt Riley."
"You wouldn't hurt me." Said Riley. "I don't want to be with you Lucas. Even if Maya hated you, which she kinda does right now, I didn't want that kiss. I moved on. I love you as a friend Lucas. That's how I love you."
Maya read the disappointment on Lucas's face. She turned back to the bottle of paint and put a drop on the pallet and walked back and sat down. Lucas followed.
"I do like you, Maya"
"Well, I don't!"
"Maya, Don't close your doors again!"
"I don't want to be a second choice."
Riley and Farkle left the room.
"I didn't have a second choice, Maya. I was confused."
"Then you should have said that!"
He sighed. They remained silent for a while and he just watched her paint the sapphire colored feather hanging from the brown dream catcher, standing out on the canvas.
"Shhh. Don't make me move." She said slowly, picking up a tiny brush with a slightly darker color. He was confused about how she could acknowledge yet ignore him at the same time. She got really close to the painting and painted on the shadows. Finally she pulled away and took a deep breath because she had been holding it.
"Wow." He said. She looked at him. Her eyes piercing him, making him feel numb between his skin and mussels and chilling his bones. He looked down and then stood up.
"I'm sorry, Maya. I didn't know what I was doing." He left her in the room alone.
