Flint walked into Vale, crossing the wall thanks to the help of the transportation airship. He looked down upon the glorious city, the sun just beginning to rise. The people around him were laughing and cheery, happy that they were now safe behind the walls.

How wrong they were.

Where most people were laughing, Flint's hawk-like eyes were searching the streets, looking for any sign of her. He was slightly disappointed to find that he didn't spot her, but he expected this much.

At first, he was wondering where beacon was but he soon spotted the large academy. After landing, he walked through the roads and path ways, somehow finding beacon after passing multiple people and asking for directions. He approached the golden, looming gates and walked in.

The students in the courtyard gave him weird looks, some even pointed at him.

He found the office, in which he knocked. Upon hearing the answer to come in, he entered and came face-to-face with Ozpin, the man in charge.

"Professor Ozpin." Flint greeted.

"Flint Lockrider. It's been quite a while, hasn't it?" Ozpin returned the gesture.

"You should know why I'm here." Flint said abruptly.

"She's here, isn't she?" Ozpin asked, his eyes reflecting the fear he felt in his soul just from asking the simple question.

"Unfortunately, yes."

Flint walked into the room he was assigned to find it bare. Nothing but a singular bed was in place in the middle of the room. The window view was beautiful however, showing the entire city. Flint closed the door and looked down at the schedule in his hands, his eyes taking in all of his classes he was supposed to attend tomorrow.

Flint jumped onto the bed, suddenly aware of what just happened.

"Geez, Cinder. I'm going back to school.... just to find you." Flint said to himself, aware of his near-impossible task but not deterred.

Flint then reached into his pocket and pulled a picture from it.

"Stay safe, Em. I'll be home soon." Flint said longingly. The picture was a little girl smiling at the camera as its picture was taken. His and Cinder's daughter was only a year old, going into her second year of life.

Flints eyes closed sleepily, waiting for the moon's lights to entering his room.

----

Cinder stood straight and tall, her flame-like dress lighting up as mother memory hit her.

Cinder awoke to a baby crying in the middle of the night. Soft, white light seeped through the windows as Cinder's eyes dreamily blinked multiple times.

Once her eyes adjusted to the darkness, she could see that Flint was already awake and cradling the baby.

"Sorry, I didn't want you to wake up." Flint apologized as the baby, Emilia, stopped crying.

"It's fine. What time is it?" Cinder asked after yawning.

"3:30 am." Flint said as Emilia played with his finger while he was holding her.

"Did you get some sleep?" Cinder asked as she left the bed and stood next to him. Her eyes landed on their daughter, aware of her black hair and beautiful hazel eyes.

"No, I've been up watching her." Flint answered. Despite his best effort, Flint couldn't hide the tiredness leaking into his voice. He yawned directly after, not enforcing his statement.

"Get some sleep. I'll watch her." Cinder said, attempting to take Emilia from him. Flint pulled Emilia away, denying her of her offer. Emilia started crying immediately.

"I'll watch her. You need your sleep more than I do. Go to sleep, ok?" Flint sat back down on the bed, trying his best to calm the baby down.

"Ok....." Cinder said, not sure if she should sleep or continue to argue.

Cinder missed the way he looked at her, the way he treated her like a queen, the way he put her needs first. She missed everything about him........

"Cinder." Said an unknown voice.

Suddenly, Cinder was awoken from her memory by Roman Torchwick.

"Cinder." Roman repeated as a white fang soldier came up behind him with a clipboard at the wave of his hand. I'm

"What is it, Roman." Cinder asked, very annoyed. Roman backed down slightly, realizing that she was ticked.

"Well, my men and I have finished your preparations and......." Roman trailed off, not wanting to say the next line and get his ass handed to him.

"And what?" Cinder demanded.

"Well.... It's just that...."

"Roman. Say it." Cinder said, now fully annoyed.

"You're going to want to see it for yourself." Roman took the clipboard from the white fang soldier and handed it to Cinder.

Cinder took the photo. Ready to slice Roman's throat for taking so long.

Instead, she dropped the photo of her previously dead husband. On the ground, she was staring at a her husband, Flint Lockrider. He was alive..... But the only question was how?

"You're..... You're alive?!" Cinder said aloud, not believing what she was seeing.

But then another thought began forming in her mind. If he was alive, surely her daughter was as well.

But then how? She saw the rock crush them, so many months ago.

So how in the world were they alive?!
