The next day I only worked till three, so I walked over to the garage to see if John got off yet. I pushed open the door and went to the counter.

“Hey,” someone said from behind me. I turned around and saw Myles coming over to me. “What are you doing here?” he questioned.

“I was wondering if John got off yet?” I asked him and Myles went behind the counter.

“Another one, makes you the second girl so far to ask if he’s gotten off yet,” Myles said with a frown.

“What do you mean?” I asked as he shuffled through some paper.

“Just that he’s attracting all our lady customers, and one took a serious attraction to him. Now she’s trying to hook up with him and he probably is now,” Myles said.

I turned around and surveyed the garage behind me. “Well, if you want, tell him I stopped by.”

“Wait Felicia,” Myles said as I went to leave. “Were you guys going out or something?”

“What?” I asked and then I answered quickly. “No, no. We’re just friends.”

“I see,” he said. “But you want to be more then friends with him.”

I looked at Myles. “Is it obvious.”

“Sort of,” he told me. “But it never is to the person you like.”

“Well I should go and get out of your way,” I turned away and went to leave again but Myles kept in step with me.

“Well, if you ever need to talk, I’m here,” he assured me.

“Thanks, but I have a girl friend for that kind of stuff,” I said thinking about Alyson and her obsession over the research. It barely allowed time to talk to me, let alone share my secret doubts and stuff with her.

“But a guy friend is always nice as well,” he informed me. “They give you insight to other things you might not know about.”

“Thanks for the offer,” I told him. “I have to get going now.”

   “Eight sharp,” he said.

   “Pardon?”

“Me, you, clubbing,” he suggested. I smiled and he went on. “Or we could sit down in the coffee shop at the corner of Brown and Lake and talk there.”

I hesitated and looked at him, remembering Alyson’s crush on him. “Do you mind if Alyson would come?”

His face dropped a bit, but didn’t hint his distaste. “Sure, the more the merrier.” He opened the door for me. “Eight sharp don’t forget.”

“I won’t,” I told him with a smile and I walked away from the garage.

“What, really?” Alyson asked as I told her about Myles asking us to coffee. I changed the words a bit to make her not hate me.

“But I kind of want to stay home tonight,” I told her. Actually I wanted to be out with John, but Myles had asked me and he was nice, but then Alyson liked him and I couldn’t do that to her.

“I tell him you didn’t feel well and were puking,” Alyson assured me.

“Alright,” I agreed my heart dropping. I knew that she liked him sincerely and really wanted to be with him by herself, but I couldn’t help wanting that for me as well.

“Oh I love you so much,” she told me, hugging me tightly before she grabbed a notebook and passed it to me. “This is the research I’ve been doing so far.”
