Jeff Rain was a quiet boy. He was often found sitting in his room writing various fan fiction for different bands. At 15 years old he was tall for his age with bright blue eyes and charcoal black hair that he grew long. His parents were never around and when they were they criticized him on everything he did. It seemed to jeff that he would never be good enough and because of this his anxiety and depression worsened. At night he would lay awake in bed thinking of all the things that had gone wrong in his life, no one at school liked him and he was often bullied. To make things worse he had recently asked his crush to go to homecoming with him and to his surprise she had said yes. The dance came and when jeff showed up he found his crush dancing with another guy, when he asked her why she replied that he was her date and she had pretended to like jeff as a joke. He left and when he got home took a handful of sleeping pills and cried himself to sleep. He told himself that was the last time he'd ever go to a dance.
One night jeff had just fell into a restless sleep. It was about midnight and the whole house was silent. Nothing moved, nothing made a sound. He had been watching a new horror movie right before he went to bed and as a result he kept waking up. Each time he awoke he found himself breathing heavy and sweating uncontrollably. This went on for the rest of the night until his alarm clock went off for him to get up for school. Jeff rolled out of bed slowly and hit the snooze on his alarm. He had a massive headache and was stiff, sore from the sleepless night. The morning passed as usual with him showering, making breakfast, and then going to the bus stop. There were already a bunch of kids there and as jeff came closer they started yelling insults at him. He put in his headphones, put on a song by Motionless in White and did his best to ignore them. As usual he sat in the back of the bus by himself, but he was used to being alone and didnt mind at all. The schoolday passed quickly and then it was 7th hour, the only class jeff liked because it was art and he loved to draw. His teacher Mrs. Jackson was quite fond of jeff and recognized his talent for drawing as well as writing. Today was weather wednesday which meant the class drew whatever the weather was that day. As usual for the autumn months it was storming outside. Jeff looked out the window at the dark black clouds moving slowly across the sky. He always liked thunderstorms and the falling rain helped calm his anxiety. As he began his drawing he got a strange feeling. Not a feeling of sickness or sadness, or any other feeling he could think of. It was a feeling of being watched. Jeff looked around the room but all the other kids were busy talking to each other and were paying no attention to him. He dismissed the feeling and went back to his drawing. Just as he was finishing putting the final details on his paper his hand started hurting. The pain increased but because the bell was about to ring he continued his drawing, as it was due at the end of the hour. All at once his hand started shaking, he tried to set the pencil down but to his horror he found he was no longer in control of his hand movements. He used his other hand to try and stop his arm from shaking but it was no use and his hand continued to scribble on the paper. Just as suddenly as it started the shaking and pain stopped and he looked down at his paper expecting to see his drawing covered in random lines. Instead there were three words written in big letters across the page, Beware The Shadows. Jeff had no idea what it meant or what had caused him to write the strange message. He looked up and found that everyone in the class was staring at him. Then they started whispering to each other but he was to far away to hear most of their words. He caught the words freak, crazy, and felt his face growing hot. Jeff grabbed his books, stood up and ran out of the class. He heard the kids start laughing and right before he went out the door jeff glanced at his teacher. She just stared at him with a blank expression on her face. For once he didnt care what they thought, he just wanted to get away and be alone. His dad came and picked him up from the office and took him home. When they got home jeff jumped out of the car and ran up the steps into the house. He could hear his father calling out to him from behind but he ignored him and went upstairs to his room, slamming the door behind. He layed in bed for a long time thinking over the day and trying to make sense of what had happened. Maybe I really am going crazy, he thought. He tried to push the strange message out of his mind and began working on a story he had started writing a few months earlier. All at once he felt the strange feeling again. This time it was much stronger and he passed out from the pain in his head. Just as his vision failed he looked up and written on the wall was another message, We Have Found You. Just as he finished reading he blacked out and fell to the floor.
