....
I grumbled incoherent words under my breath as I trudged along the side of the footpath to reach my house which was, may I add, in the middle of nowhere. My legs were killing me as I had been running for a good hour by now. Running was a habit i became accustomed to during the long summer hours of eleventh grade. I continued the habbit along in twelfth grade just incase my past years of overweight Gabi came running back to me. People were shocked when they saw me arrive at school in the beginning of the year. They even-

"Gabi, dear, you're home?" My mother yelled at me from across the sitting room, I presumed father was home too considering the fact that his car was parked outside. I wanted my tone to sound as sarcastic as possible when I reply, but as usual I failed to find my inner confidence and replied in a much weaker and quiet voice than i had hope for.

"Yes mother", I glanced towards the other couch across our small living room to see father with one eyebrow raised, in hope for a greeting. "Father, how was your day?" I asked putting up the fakest smile i could manage. He fell for it and smiled back in approval, but I could'nt help but notice the smile was fake.

My parents were dumb. Yeah, mabey they had jobs but that does'nt excuse them for not seeing through their daughters faked laughter, and real laughter. There was a difference between real happiness and happiness that is purely a show put up for the world to see. I could see his smile was not genuine, why couldn't he see past mine?

"Good dear, I've got a business trip coming up and i have to leave tommorrow morning at 5am. My boss won't be too pleased if I show up late"

"Wait...but school starts at 8:30am daddy"

"I know" He kept his face blank and stared at me as if I was crazy. He was the crazy person here! Who would drop me to school?

I stared at my mother expectantly waiting for her reply. She sighed, "Gabriella, your fathers' boss is picking him up from our house tomorrow. This is no small deal, you already know that Dad's employer is an important man and him coming to our house is an important deal"

"But he is'nt coming inside or anything so i don't see why it's that important mother"

"Ah, this is what your mother and I wanted to discuss to you about, my boss has two kids, twins. One is a girl, other is a boy, both are eighteen years old. They are a couple months older than you and attend your school, in your grade. You will be riding with them tommorrow."

Oh.

That was where this was leading to. Not the fact that I was riding with total and utter strangers to school tommorrow but the fact that there was a boy involved. My thoughts were on point as i heard my father speak his next words.

"I trust you Gabi, that you will be a responsible young adult with this boy. I know that you are seventeen years young and expect us to allow you to hang out with boys more frequently but trust me Gabi, we are doing this for you. Boys come after college, your grades are far more important. I think you know that already however. I do not want you invovled with this boy in any other way but as the boy who dropped you to school once in your life. Thank God his twin will be there so you can chat with her during the journey to school."
