You and Me

Chapter One

Dear Journal,
                    I can't believe it is the end of summer already. Tomorrow I'm going to a new school, skipping grade 8 at Mt. View. New home, new friends, new school... It's probably going to be a disaster. All I want is to be back in Utah, where my real home is.

Kaelyn started a short journal entry, which is what she loved to do. She tried to imagine what tomorrow would be like, being in 9th grade at Mt. View. When she couldn't imagine what tomorrow would be like or how horrible it would be, something caught her eye.

A picture of her and her old boyfriend, Zay. They were sitting side by side on a flight of stairs leading to her old school in Utah. They were the only people there. Them holding hands, kissing each other...

It was unbearable. She felt her eyes sting as they filled up with tears. He had been the only real comfort in her world, and now he was gone, back in Utah. She had loved how when they kissed he would put one hand on her back and the other in her hair... he was the only real thing in the world of Kaelyn, and he was gone. She zoomed to her different memories...

Rollerskating, and with her real best friend, Mackenzie. She had begged her parents to go to Florida with her, and to both friends' complete surprise, they finally said, "Okay." Both were laughing so hard as Kaelyn had slipped in some soda and fell over. She got huge bruises on her legs, her arms, everything. It was worth it though. If there was a skating rink in Utah, they were planning on going there. Both had wanted to make new memories, such as watching a new movie, The 5th Wave. Mackenzie and Kaelyn were only about 20 minutes from each others house, so they could make plans quickly.

Kaelyn realized it was almost 12:30 A.M., so she needed to get to bed. She went to the bathroom, brushed her teeth, and chose to put on a tee and sweatpants. She got in bed at 12:42.
