She didn't stop running.
The Stained-Shirt man was coming. At first he tried to stab her. Then he tortured her. Badly. There are gashes on her neck and cheek, arms and legs. She was basically COVERED in bruises and cuts. Her running shoes were wearing off, which was bad. Looking back, she saw that the Man wasn't following her anymore. She figured that she lost him.
Then he jumped out and tackled her, and pushed her into a well.
