Connie's Log - Sol 7

I doubt that I will last 250 sols. Watney's sense of humor is killing me. I mean, it was bearable on Hermes 3. At least there I had 5 other people to talk to, but here, all I have is Captain Obnoxious.

This morning I was getting up from my bunk and accidentally fell to the floor. Watney was already awake and eating a portion of a meal packet. He looked over at me sprawled out on the floor, my face on the ground.

"Good morning, Sunshine! I made you breakfast." I looked up and there was a meal packet sitting on the work station he was sitting at. I lowered my head back to the ground and moaned. I still felt sore on my right side from my broken ribs. I squeezed my eyes shut.

"Want some help getting up?" Asked Watney, walking over to me. I grunted and rolled over onto my back. My left arm had started to throb. I moaned again and opened my eyes up to reveal that Watney was standing over me. "You don't look so good, Murphey." I glared up at him.

"Are you gonna help me or what?" I said through gritted teeth. He laughed.

"Maybe I'll just leave you there. I'll just keep planning my brilliant plan for living. I'll try to remember to feed you every few sols." I tried to get up, but the pain was too intense on both of my sides that I collapsed back to the floor.

"Help me get up." He kneeled down by my right side.

"What is the magic word?"

"Help me get up, you idiot."

"Ooh, wrong answer. I'll let you try again tomorrow." He started to stand up and walk away.

"Watney." I said quietly. "Please help me get up." He walked back and stood over me again.

"Well, ok, but only because I am a nice man who doesn't enjoy seeing people suffer." I mumbled thank you as he helped me up. We walked over to the work station, and I opened my meal portion.

"So, are you going to tell me about this master plan for surviving that you've come up with?" I walked around the table and looked down at the map of Mars he was staring at.

"You were mean to me. I don't think you deserve to know." I rolled my eyes.

"I'm sorry, Watney. Listen, we are going to be here for a while if our resources hold up. Please cut me a break and stop being so obnoxious!" He laughed and looked up at me.

"Fine. I'll tell you about my plan."
