They say memories are overrated and to stop living in the past, but I can’t seem to find the right state of mind to let everything my husband and I had go. Sitting in the waiting room of the hospital made all of the perfect moments we’ve had together come back in flashbacks. It’s funny how a life or death situation can expose how much you love and care about someone. Now knowing that my loving consort is slowly dying, is a heartbreaking wake up call.

It’s another one of those mornings when everything started with one simple complaint. My husband always searches for the time and place to start an argument that will set my blood pressure high. “Why can’t you just try and listen to me for once!?” I yelled at the top of my lungs. He always knows what to do and what to say to get me to reach this point of my anger. “Well, I’m sorry that this marriage isn’t what you expected for it to be!” He yelled back. I couldn’t take it anymore, so I just grabbed my stuff and walked out the door and made my way to work.

As I made my way to work, I couldn’t help but notice happy, young, teenage couples holding hands on the side walk, as their eyes promised forever. Reminiscing at that moment made me miss the way my husband and I used to be before the bickering and arguing started. We’d always used to spend hours conversing about our future together. We both vowed we’d spend every hour and every year of our lives growing and getting stronger and committed lovers. As of right now, speaking for my husband and me, I’m not sure whether or not those vows and topics were to come true.

“Mrs. Graham, you’re needed in the conference room.” The voice of my co-assistant spoke through the speakers of the intercom. I let out a heavy sigh. I hope this isn’t something else that could ruin the rest of my day. My husband has been on my mind since the yelling and cursing earlier in the day. “On my way.” I replied back. Making my way to the conference room, I noticed the hallways were more crowded today than they usually are. The eyes of the ladies I work with were going out of their sockets as if they saw something that struck their ovaries. “Morgan! Morgan! Did you see the hunky new staff worker?” My coworker, Bruce, asked in excitement with a wink. I laughed to myself. Bruce and I have become really close friends in these past couple of months, due to several partner projects. “No, I haven’t. What’s his name?” I asked, still in some amazement that Bruce is fine with the fact he publicly came out of the closet. “Girl, let me tell you…” He said with a long pause at the end. I saw him shiver up then have a huge grin on his face while covering up his groin area. I let out a loud laugh “BRUCE! Come on!” I couldn’t stop laughing. “Oh, right. But let’s just say, he could ride my big green tractor any day, baby! Any who: His name is Christian Gray.” While Bruce was talking, I couldn’t help but still have a few giggles in my system. Losing focus of our conversation, my eyes laid on the second most handsome pair of eyes I’ve ever seen in my life.
