Lucy's POV

I didn't think I'd feel this way about anyone.

Anton and Sienna were visiting from California for the weekend and they're still cute as ever. Sometimes I wonder how they got over so many obstacles in the amount of time they've been together.

But for Cal and Kaylie, it's different. Well, kind of. I mean, they had a fallout two years ago, but rekindled what they had a few months back and I'm so happy for them.

I just don't know how Jason knew Kaylie.

It's always been in the back of my mind. The thought shouldn't really be in my head, but I just feel like there's something more to the story of Jason and Kaylie than anything I knew of. He's hiding something from me, and I'm gonna figure out what it is.

The weekend went by fast and Anton and Sienna had to leave for their flight back to California.

"It's so sad to see you guys go so soon," I whined, hugging both of my friends.

"Us too, Lucy." Sienna huffed when I let go of them. "You better visit us sometimes. Both of you should."

"We'll definitely try this summer," Jason claimed as he placed her bag in the back of the taxi.

I looked up at him then back at Anton and Sienna. "His word against mine," I laughed.

Anton gave me one last hug then looked at Jason, who was now behind me. "Take care of our best friend, buddy. She's a feisty one to tame." They laughed.

"She's worth the challenge." My boyfriend gave us his signature smile, the smile every girl swooned over.

I suppressed a blush. "Be safe out there, you guys." I stated as Sienna and Anton got into the taxi.

Jason and I went back inside after the taxi left. An awkward silence went on for a few minutes.

"So," He started as we sat across from each other at the kitchen table, "I've noticed you've been really distant."

I shrugged at the fact that he was right and answered, "I don't know what you're talking about, Jay."

"You only call my Jay when you're hiding something."

"I'm not hiding any-"

My boyfriend put his elbows on the table. "What's going on, Lucy?"

"You're the one that's hiding something," I retorted. "How 'bout you tell me what's going on?"

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"How exactly do you know Kaylie? You have no classes together." Geez, I sound like one of those crazy ex-girlfriends now. Honestly I just said that to say it, but it got a reaction out of him anyways.

Jason froze for a quick second, but quickly put a facade on. "Why do you want to know?"

"Because you're the one that promised no more secrets, but you're the one that's keeping a secret."

He seemed to bite his cheek, maybe regretting the fact that he knew I was right.

"No secrets," I stated.

"Looks like it's story time," he sighed.

"I have all night, Donovan."

"Let's take it back two and half years ago, shall we?"

Kaylie's POV

Lucy had seemed awfully quiet today.

Well, she and I usually talk on a day to day basis now that she and I are as close as ever. Maybe something happened today?

Being the overbearing person I am, I decided to drive over to Jason's cottage since I knew she'd be there. The door was unlocked so I knocked a few time before opening it myself.

When I got inside, I was welcomed to a silent house. Too silent for my liking.

"Hello?" I called out, closing the door behind me.

Jason came out of the kitchen to see who came in.

"Hey Kayles," he greeted.

"Hey, where's Lucy? I thought she'd be here."

"She-uh, she stepped out for a little bit. To cool off, you know?"

I sighed. "What happened, Jason?"

"What? Something has to happen to make her this mad that she had to-"

"Jason," I scolded.

He sighed and sat himself down, as did I. "We were talking earlier today, after her friends left for their flight back to California. She knew I'd been hiding something from her ever since the whole deal at Cal's cottage."

"Okay, but what does that have to do with anything that-"

"She asked about how I knew you."

"How does that have anything to do with-"

"You know how I said we had a class together?"

"Yes, I do."

"I told her how I really knew you."

"We dated and then stuff happened, but-"

"She knows about me using her to try and get to you."

"Oh boy."
