Sunday came and gone way too quickly.
I woke to Nana shaking me and telling me that it was time for school. I groaned and went to the bathroom to get ready for the day.
Once I was done in the bathroom, I walked into the closet and scanned through my clothing. I settled for a large oversized beige sweater, some dark skinny jeans, and a pair of brown boots. Feeling lazy this morning I decided to through my hair up in a ponytail and settled for just eye liner.
Makeup was too much work.
Sighing I put on my large rimmed glasses before grabbing my side bag and headed out the door.
‘I will be positive about today. I will be positive about today.’ I say as I make my way downstairs.
“There you are Noah, I was thinking I was going to have to drag you from your bed.” My mother said smiling at me. She was already dressed for work in her business attire with her coffee made.
My mom would not have gone upstairs to wake me up, she would most likely send Nana or another house maid.
“Don’t worry Mom.” I say while grabbing a water bottle and granola bar.
“Well let’s get going now, I have to be at work by eight.” She announced while grabbing her purse and keys before heading out the door “Come on Noah.”
Nana grinned at me before kissing my forehead “Good luck darling I’m sure you’ll do fine.”
“Thanks Nana.” I uttered before making my way to the door.
“Knock em’ dead!” she shouted.
I chuckled and closed the door and headed to the car where my mom was waiting.
“Aren’t you excited Noah?” my mom asked while messing with the radio.
I crossed my arms and glanced out the window, school was five minutes and I wished it would take longer to get there. I’ve been dreading this day all summer long. “I guess.”
“Oh come on, I won’t be that bad love, don’t worry. Besides I heard they have a lovely music program.” My mother babbled, sometimes her British accent gets me, I can barely understand a single word she utters so I just tune her out.
Soon we approached the school and I felt my stomach jitter in nervousness. I could feel people’s stares at the car as my mom pulled up to the curb, it was like people haven’t seen a car as nice as this before.
My mother loved the attention though, she straightened her posture, adjusted her mirror while puckering her lips, before smirking out the window. She could be such a teenager at times.
“I guess this is my stop.” I mumbled while getting out of the car.
“See you at home my love.” My mom responded.
Sighing I glanced up at the school in front of me, it was much different from my old school. Manhattan Private School for Girls was obviously an all-girls school. I couldn’t possibly imagine going to school with boys.
This school was decent sized and didn’t seem that old, the paint seemed new and hasn’t chipped yet. Making my way up the steps I couldn’t help but notice people stare at me, what haven’t they seen a new person before?
