Do Better Pt. 1

You're sitting on your bed,

Just waiting on a miracle to happen,

Just waiting for your chance to be happy,

As if everything will come for free while you sit on your ass.

You love the thought of "chasing your dreams",

But haven't even put on your sneakers to run.

You always say how much you wanna be a writer,

But don't even make an effort to stay up writing chapters until the break of dawn.

You gotta do better.

You say you're tired of being alone,

And you wish that someone cared.

You're tired of being "the single friend",

But when a man approaches you, you act scared.

You stare at the ceiling, wanting everything in your life to just be alright.

You want to buy your mama a house,

You want to move away from here...

But you just sit there all quiet like it's gonna happen overnight.

Success is only achieved after someone makes an effort to try.

You gotta do better.

If you're not sure exactly what you want,

Stop complaining and go out to find it.

The answers cannot be found within the walls of your home,

And home is not the place for hiding.

No one is going to hand you what you want,

That's why it's best to get up and try to take it.

There's no easy way to the top.

No shortcuts, back roads, or hidden streets to make it.

It's okay to dream,but you can't be a dreamer all your life.

It's time to wake up to reality and live out the desires you dream of at night.

You just gotta do better, honey!
