Chapter 1: Searching for the lost healer Pt. 1
At first I only thought it was a damn rumor, or just another urban legend here in strange town but in this town, everything is believable and it seems nothing's impossible, at least some of the shit around here. My name's Liam Daverz and I'm currently sitting at a bar I visit every now and then to keep my ears open of any town rumors. The rumors are outrageous and unbelievable but if you lived here, well, let's just say there's no such thing as a "normal" day. Tonight's rumor was of a young girl, name unknown that lived deep in this town somewhere. I heard a group of half drunk assholes ranting about how this girl could heal and resurrect the dead but that her power only granted one resurrection a year.
I was very interested to know if this rumor was true or not because just two years ago I lost something dear to my heart. A 6 year old daughter named Sophia. Her mother never wanted kids and she hated me for impregnating her. She wanted an abortion and I told her if she didn't want anything to do with the life I helped created, then I wanted nothing to do with her. I told her I'd take care of her.
My dad walked out on me when I was 7 and when I got old enough to fully understand I vowed to never do my child the same way. That deadbeat basterd. Well, Sophia's careless mother was drunk and high speeding down an interstate those two years ago. It was dark and the rain was heavy. Then she crashed.
That's how the story was explained to me when I visited her in prison weeks after Sophia's funeral. She had the nerve to say she was sorry. That bitch! "Damn right you're sorry." I remember telling her through the glass window with the phone in my ear to hear her. "I took care of Sophia those six years of her life and you never did shit but sit your lazy ass around, smoke and drink." I snarled through the phone. "My daughter's dead and you're still alive. You neglected her, never claimed her, treated the both of us like we were nothing, like we weren't your family." She started to cry. The tears streamed down her pale white skin.
Jail had really been bad to her. She was a train wreck now. I don't think she'll ever look like that beautiful mistake I fell in love with all those years ago. "You can cry all you want Judith, but I'll never forgive you, the hell you put us through, the struggles, the pain. Have a nice life rotting." I slammed the phone on the hook and left the prison that day with a rage filled heart. I hated her to the core and never regretted that hate. You may think I'm being a complete asshole but I'm not. I haven't dated anyone since the death of Sophia. It's hard to trust women.
This town is filled with whores. Maybe one day I'll find the right girl but until then I'm keeping to myself. I'm on a mission for now, a mission to find this so-called healer, who also is rumored to have the amazing power of resurrection. To bring Sophia back to life would make me the happiest man in the universe. To hold my daughter once again would mean the world to me. I've got to find that woman. I just have to. I couldn't help but think that there were going to be others in my way. The town was filled with witches, werewolves, shape shifters, animorphers, and a lot more crazy bull. I don't give a damn though because I'll do whatever it takes to bring my little girl back and I won't give up no matter what.
I'll stop at nothing and whoever gets in my way is in for it.
