Alpha's meeting

Silence. Silence except for the dim buzz of the hotel fluorescents. The day now fading into darkness. Have I made the right choice? Perhaps questioning myself after I've already done the task is a bad idea. The pack can live without me for a day... Or a few more days.

Outside the weather had begun to cool making the inevitable approach to fall feel even closer. Just the beginning of September as the days cooled and the children romping around in the park had begun to slow.

I lay there in the silence, hoping to hear a bird chirp or some sort of outside noise. The hum of a truck engine? No just the fluorescents constant buzz and the occasional tick tock of a wall clock.

When I had first arrived the hotel owner stated the television does not work. Indeed she was right. Now how was I supposed to distract myself with no television.

Nevertheless I was suppose to meet someone important here, the alpha of another pack. A woman just now understanding the dynamics of running a pack. She wanted to see me to ask for my assistance. Something she had told me through our brief phone call just days before. She must be arriving soon. What could take her this long?

As this thought occurred to me there was a knock at the door. I stood up slowly from my resting position and travelled to the door.

"Who is it?" I asked, quite stupidly I might add.

"Who do you think?" A soft feminine voice came from the other side of the door.

Trisha the young pack leader arrives fashionably late. I chuckled lightly to myself as I unlocked the door.

"What are you laughing about, Gretchen?" Trisha asked.

"I am not Gretchen anymore remember? My spiritual training has opened my eyes to the name Luna. I have no right taking such a wonderful name, yet what you receive is what you receive I suppose." Trisha screwed up her face.

"How old are you gre- Luna?"

What does she mean by this? I don't think this is an important subject to discuss.

"21." I state plainly.

"No not the age you tell everyone how old are you, really?"

Another peculiar question. How would she know this information?

"I'm 18. Going to college soon. Is this why you've asked me here? To play games?"

She shook her head and took the liberty to sit on the hotels bed.

"Sit here with me this may take a while." I obeyed her and sat obediently next to her.

"We both know I don't know exactly what I'm doing. I came here for advice. How do you run your pack? Why are people such, with lack of a better word, assholes? Why is it that everyone else seems to be so levelheaded while I'm still trying to figure everything out?"

Tears had started to form and slid down her pale slender face. Brightening her already bright blue eyes.

"Trisha, starting off is never easy. You should have already been well acquainted with this. There is no rhyme or reason to running a pack you just... Well you just do it. To answer your other inquiry, no one is levelheaded. With this mutation to our bodies great anger surges within us. We are unable to control this, but we hide it well; very well. How long have you been the leader? Nearly two months? You are unable to comprehend all of this new information in two months. Give it at least five months alright?"
