I walked inside the house I had lived in my whole life. Well, I didn't walk there because I wanted to; I walked there because my brother pushed me in. There was my mother with her blonde hair on a tight bun and arms crossed over her chest. I drew in a sharp breath, rolling my eyes.
"Hello mother," I whispered through my teeth.
"Still in college," she said with a snarky tone. I looked her under my brows. "No grandchildren yet? You have kept me waiting long enough Grace."
I frowned with disbelief. My mother was seriously suggesting me to have kids? I was twenty for God's sake! I should not have kids for at least for 10 years. But of course she would suggest me this, she was my mother. The whole reason why I didn't want to live with my family anymore.
"What do you want?" I arched my brows with a forward question. Diana raised her brows in so called surprise. She was trying to pretend like I didn't know that she wanted something from me. "Ryan didn't go to Savannah to get me for no reason. You know you could have just called me in stead of a locator spell."
"Come on Grace, we both know you wouldn't have answered," Ryan said from behind me. He walked casually past our mother and onto our living room sofa. He lifted his feet on the sofa table sighing with satisfaction.
"That may be true," I said with a shrug. "Spill the beans D. What do you want?"
Diana, my mother, sighed silently, and I could see that she was worried. She almost never was worried, so that worried me. I frowned when she turned around to walk over to the leather arm chair that was opposite to the sofa were Ryan was sat. It squeaked when she sat down and her brown eyes got up to my blue green ones.
"When the boy, Malachai Parker killed 4 of his sibling's, was sent into the prison world, we were a part of that," my mother explained leaning better on the leather chair. I glanced over at Ryan who was intently staring at Diana. I was so confused I had no idea what they were talking about. "We helped the Gemini Coven to create that world and the so called fences around it."
The room was filled with atmosphere with the dimmed lights and dark furniture. The fire was lit in the fireplace, and the flames were dancing around in there.
"We are the ones who have the ability to enter the world, and exit it without the Ascendant. We are the guardian's of the prison world," she explained with a gesture of her right hand. That made my wrist burn yet again. I glanced down and noticed it was glowing.
"Has it been hurting much lately?" Ryan asked with an arch of his brow. I bit my cheek with a quick sigh.
"Yeah," I said. I brushed my hair back closing my eyes for just a second. "I have a feeling this has something to do with the prison world?"
"Yes, unfortunately," Diana said pursing her lips into a tight line. Her eyes were on my tattoo, and I felt like just her gaze burned it.
"Then why did you give it to me without telling me the responsibility coming with it?" I spat the question through my lips like venom. My mother looked at me sadly, like she was about to cry and I had no idea why.
"Honey we didn't choose you. The ancestors did," she explained looking up at the ceiling.
"Yeah if anyone should have that tattoo it should be me," Ryan commented with a cocked smirk. I hit him hard on his arm. He winced but then just laughed at me. He was such a dick.
"Yeah well you can have it," I said staring at him intently. "Because there is no way in hell I'm going to go into that prison world that holds the boy that killed 4 of his siblings!"
