In the beginning there were two.  There was always two.  There was Life, who had accepted the human name Rosanna  as her own, and a being simply called Void.  Void was a strange figure, not able to hold an actual, humanoid shape for too long.  Maybe for a second or two, but not like Rosanna could.  Rosanna, always being the motherly one of the two entities, went to the Higher-ups, the ones who created Life and Void, and asked if there was anything they could do to help their sibling.  So, feeling pity for the monstrous entity, the Higher-ups agreed.

Their solution was a bit odd, though.  With a booming clap from the Higher-ups, Void was split in two.  One side, a girl, became Destiny, and the other side, a boy, was Death.  The two were considered twins from there on out.

The humans on Earth slowly became self-aware.  They slowly began to associate objects and concepts as people.  So, before long, Life, Death, and Destiny had another sibling.  This sibling was named appropriately as Time.  The four ruled over the universe alone, correcting wrongs, fixing mistakes, and ultimately creating order in the universe.

Of course, Life, Death, Destiny, and Time were not the only entities.  However, they were the main four, the ones the other, lesser entities had to listen to and obey.  Of course small fights would abrupt the order among the entities, but they would be over as quickly as they began.  Except for when the main four snapped.

It started with Life, thinking that she should be the only one ruling the galaxy.  Her existence was brought to an end quickly by the Higher-ups, and her place was quickly filled by another entity, bearing the same name and somewhat of the same looks, but acted differently.  The other Life, the original Life, was simply erased.  Next was Death, and his twin was the one who brought his existence to an end.  However, with much persuasion, they brought him back instead of erasing him and replacing him.  His memory was swiped and he resumed his place among his siblings.  Then it was Destiny, whose situation was even more unique than her twins.  She was brought back, no memory swipe, no replacing or erasing.  She was just . . . back.  She didn't lash out again, and seemed to be fine with her situation, not thinking about it too much in fear that the HIgher-ups would change their mind.  However, Time had yet to snap.  He didn't see the need in it . . .

At least, not yet.
