All eyes turned to the girl. Who was standing shakily about 10 feet away from them.

She had chocolate brown eyes and long straight brown hair, which was tied up tightly in a ponytail. Her uniform clung to her tall, slender frame, and was damp from the wetness of sand.

Ralph pulled his eyes away from her and spoke to the group.

"Give me a minute, she doesn't know what's-----" he was interrupted by Jack, who spoke almost too casually to Ahlia.

"We're basically on an island in the middle of nowhere."

Ralph glared at Jack for such a 'comforting' statement he had made.
A few of the littluns started weeping and rocking back and forth.

Ahlia stood there, her mouth wide open, looking completely shocked. She spoke cautiously.

" B-but, h-how...?"

Her eyes wandered past each face in the group,

"Is there any other... girls?" Her voice was quiet and she seemed scared of the answer she would be given.

" No" Ralph replied, staring down at his feet.

Ahlia stared at the sand uncomfortably.

She examined each boys face again and walked towards them silently.

"Are you sure this is an island?" She asked with curiosity.

Ralph tried to comfort her, understanding the feeling of confusion she would be dealing with right now.

"Um, we are pretty sure. But um," he seemed nervous, and searched the beach with his hazel eyes.

"So that means..." She paused,
"No teachers..."

Her mouth spread into a half grin.

"No siblings..."

All the boys except the twins started laughing cheerfully, surprised that the girl had not burst into tears

"And most importantly..." She paused again, trying to build the suspense.

"No parents!"

By this point they were all jumping for joy, the littluns started dancing around the lagoon, which separated them from the ocean, and Ralph was smiling from ear to ear.
He noticed how Ahlia smiled with such joy, and how she seemed so self confident and unconcerned.

He wished he could feel that way again.

When he had first awoken upon the sand, he had been so perplexed about this new island, he had forgotten the brink of reality. He had felt as though he was demented and had lost all memories whatsoever.

He quickly learned that that was not the case; meeting Piggy had taught him that.

But now, as the sun slowly rose in the sky, he realised how wrong it felt to be here. An unknown land, somewhere possibly no one had been before... He had to admit, he was scared.

Ralph spat into the conch and it created the same thundering sound it had created earlier.

Everyone paused in unison and made their way back to the logs. Ahlia followed and sat in between Jack and Ralph, who both fidgeted nervously.
