Just a short story I wrote a long time ago :) I'll upload the rest soon. hope you like it!

"Time for school!" Altiyan yelled up the stairs to his kids, "is everyone ready?".

"Yes!" was yelled back by his four youngest children.

Ronan came bouncing down the stairs with his school bag all packed and ready. Ronan was the youngest of Altiyan's seven children, he was only six. The second youngest was Libby who was eight. The identical twins, Emily and Izzy were eleven. Next came Zane who was fifteen. Second oldest was Riley at eighteen and the oldest was Phoebe who was twenty. Phoebe and Riley both had jobs, Phoebe worked at a cafe down the road from their house as a waitress. Riley had an apprenticeship at the car mechanics in the city.

They lived in Adelaide, in a big house by the beach. Each day Zane had to walk to school with all of his younger siblings. Their school taught every year level. Riley didn't have a car but during the day he caught the bus to work. Phoebe (who did have a car) went to uni most of the week and always had morning shifts at the cafe.

Phoebe was studying art at uni and loved it. Her room was full of her artwork and she sold some of her best art at the local art gallery. Altiyan was a teacher at the local tafe, he taught music and was always immensed in his work.

That morning Altiyan was going to drop the little kids at school on his way to work because Zane was sick in bed. "Okay Ronan, Libby, Izzy and Emily lets go!" Altiyan called to his children.

Ronan had already raced out the door before his sisters came bolting down the stairs. Riley came out of his room (earlier than usual) "Hey dad!" he called to Altiyan who was grabbing his work gear. "Can you drop me at the bus stop?" Riley asked, "Sure" replied his dad "We're leaving now". Riley rushed back into his room and was walking out the front door a few minutes later with his hair still all messy.

The little kids were fighting over who was seating where when Altiyan and Riley got to the car. "The twins are in the back" Libby yelled at her sisters, "Nuh uh" the twins chorused back" I want to sit in the back" Ronan announced. "Hey!" Altiyan yelled "The twins and Ronan are in the back and Libby can sit with Riley in the front". Everyone did as they were told and took their seats. They pulled out the driveway and headed towards school and work. But Altiyan knew that they would be having more problems that day...and he was right.

Back at the house Phoebe had just woken up and checked her alarm clock, it read 9:00am. She groaned and rolled over. She knew that she needed to get up and get ready for work but it felt like she was too catching her brothers cold.

Zane was lying in bed feeling the worst he had felt so far with a killer headache and a stomach that still twisted with pain. He wished that he hadn't caught this sickness from school. He had thought his dad would remedy him...but that hadn't been the case and he'd been sick for almost a week. None of the antibiotics seemed to help either. They had tried panadol, nurofen, pain killers, hot showers and cold baths. Nada. He decided it was time for a doctor and searched for his phone to ring his dad.

Altiyan had dropped Riley at the bus stop and the younger kids at school. He had just pulled into the tafe car park when his phone rang. "Hello" Altiyan said, "Hey dad" came Zane's croaky voice through the phone. "Zane my boy" Altiyan cheerfully spoke into the phone "how are you feeling today?", "Terrible dad and I was wondering if you could take me to the doctors?". Altiyan thought for a moment and then replied "Zane why don't you ask your sister to take you? shes still at home asleep". "Oh okay then" Zane slowly replied and hung up.

At the local school where the little kids were, Libby had gotten into a fight with a fourth grade girl. The girl had been telling her friend how Libby's family was a train wreck, and how they had to all sleep in the same bed cause they were so poor.

If there was one thing that Libby hated more than anything, it was people telling her that her family wasn't good enough just because it wasn't the same as anyone else's family.

So here was Libby kicking, scratching and punching any part of the ten year old that she could reach. The ten year old who had been taken by surprise when Libby had tackled her to the ground and was regretting everything she had said. Just as a few more students came to watch the girls fight on the ground, Mrs. Edmund's (Libby's teacher) came and pulled the girls apart.

"What on earth are you girls doing?!" she yelled.

"Miss I was defending myself, I wasn't fighting" the fourth grader innocently spoke up. Mrs. Edmunds turned to look at Libby, "Well Libby if that is true, then why were you fighting this fourth grader?". Libby knew that only the truth seemed fair, "you see miss I was just walking along and I heard this girl tell her friend that my family is messed up so naturally I turned around and tackled her...she bought it on herself".

Mrs. Edmunds sighed "Libby I understand that you were upset but that does not mean that you should attack someone". Libby tried her best to look like she regretted the whole thing but she couldn't help but feel like that girl had deserved it. Mrs.Edmunds ended by sending Libby to the principals office and the other girl back to her class. As Libby  trudged up to the office she wasn't regretting anything, she just worried that her dad would be told.

Phoebe had just been about to fall back to sleep when Zane came in and shook her awake. She rolled over and groaned "what do you want?". "Dad said that you gotta take me to the doctors and find out just how bad this sickness is". Phoebe opened her eyes properly and looked at her brother, he did look kind of pale and his nose was red from blowing it to many times, his eyes were puffy and his lips were dry. "Okay I will as soon as I am ready I'll take you" Phoebe agreed. "Thank you" Zane croaked and went to to lie down on the couch while his sister got ready.

As Phoebe went to have a shower she couldn't help but think how her uni assignment would have to be postponed if she had this cold.

Riley had caught the bus to work and was helping to fix a 1996 holden commodore with his mate Tom. The two boys had been working at the mechanics for only a year but they had already planned to open a mechanics together when they were older. Tom lived in the city and was able to ride his motorbike to work everyday. Riley had met Tom his first day on the job and they had become good friends.

"Chuck us that screwdriver would you Riley?" Tom's voice echoed from under the car. "Do you really want me to chuck it?" Riley teased. "Just give it here!" Tom sighed. Riley laughed and slid the screwdriver under the car. "Thanks mate" came Tom's reply.

Ronan was in reception at school and always loved going because it was the most fun ever for him. Today his class was going to the library to read books and to do that they had to cross the oval holing their partners hand. Ronan had got paired with Lilly, a shy little girl with brown hair and bright eyes. Ronans mother had had green eyes before she had passed away and everytime Ronan looked at lilly it reminded him of his mothers green eyes.

Izzy and Emily were in grade six and they only liked school for the friend side of it. They hated schoolwork and were always getting into trouble.
