Things with Brittany had only gotten worse. Ever since Sam had found out about her and Luke, she had been acting like a down right, for lack of a better word, jerk. She had been acting like a jerk more than usual.
The girls and I had decided to show Katherine and the guys the picture of Luke and Britt. They didn't have a similar reaction as us, well Katherine did, but the guys sorta freaked out.
"How could he not tell us! Here I was thinking we were friends!"
"Chill, Mikey. It was probably Brittany that told him to keep it on the down low. You know how she is. She's too embarrassed to even be seen with us, imagine if people knew she was dating one of us. She'd probably want to die."
"Well, people wouldn't really care. I mean, it's not like she's one of the 'popular girls' anyway," I added to what Samantha had been saying.
Everyone nodded along.
"Hey! Did you guys hear about the music teacher? Apparently, he-" I zoned Calum out, not really interested in what had happened with the music teacher.
As my friends talked on and on, my mind drifted off to Brittany. I mentally scoffed.
How had I been so stupid? I thought she was my best friend. All those mean things she had said about me and all of my other friends, my real friends. It just made me so angry, the fact that she thought she was allowed to act that way!
We had asked Sam to be like our little 'spy', seeing as Brittany would only talk to Samantha.
She was (of course) ignoring me, and Bianca, well that was a different story. Brittany had had this thing against Bianca ever since I could remember.
The rest of my friends didn't really know that she was horrible. Except for the way she normally acts around people in general. I guess we were kinda scared to tell them. What if they decided that they would rather be friends with Brittany than with us because of all the things she will them about us?
That was the type of thing Britt did. She tried to turn people against other people, even if they were friends.
The chatter around me died down and I glanced at all of my friends. Katherine was gathering her stuff and already saying her goodbyes.
"Oh! Hey Katherine, are we still on for tonight?" I added before she could leave.
She glanced at everyone, her eyes landing on me last. "Um, I wish I could, I really do! But I can't. My mum's making me go to this family thing and I feel really bad 'cause this is, like, the third time I've cancelled on you guys."
"Katherine, it's okay. You go to your family thing. Really, it's fine."
"I still feel bad. I promise I'll make it up to you guys! Well, bye!" She didn't even give us a chance to respond, she just left. Her eyes lingering on Calum for a little too long. Wait, what?
I made a mental note to ask her about her crush on him. I mean, it was pretty obvious.
Before any of us could begin a conversation again, Calum looked down at his watch.
