Here's Undeniable! The second book to shift me alpha!! Enjoy!
Prologue
Being part of the battle doesn’t shed tears, or blood. Being in the battle makes it only half won. But being alone in the battle, well, that’s a whole different story.
CHAPTER 1
After we all clambered off the hill, legs numb, we returned to our houses to rest and then after dinner, think of a battle strategy.
I was very edgy on the idea of all these wonderful people going into battle. Before I came, they were all living so happy and peacefully, but like I always do, I ruined a perfect place.
So I would defend this sacred town, and return to my old pack. I would have to rely on my powers to help defend myself, and if they win, they may do what they please with me, but I will not let this town die because of me.
Erick nudged me with his snout and I looked over into his twinkling eyes. He nodded once and gave me a small wolfy smile. Meanwhile, my paws ached from walking and I wanted to curl up in a ball and sleep.
“You did amazing up there.” He smiled.
I gave a weak smile back. “You too.”
All of a sudden, I wondered where Shawn was. I hadn’t seen him all day, heck I haven’t seen him since he kissed me and I slapped him. I wondered if Erick knew about it, they were best friends, did Shawn tell him? That would be a little excessive though, he wouldn’t.
“We’ll be fine.” Erick said. “Nothing to worry about.”
I nodded. “It’s not us I’m worried about.”
He stared at me puzzled, but seemed to not want to prod me though. “So what do you think will happen?”
I sighed. “Can we not talk about it?” I asked, feeling that slight nagging sensation in my stomach.
He stared at me oddly. “Are you ok?”
“Yeah,” I shook my head, “just a little shaken up.”
He nodded. “You should get some rest before dinner, and I’ll go talk to Lucinda. I’ve been meaning to speak to her anyways.”
I nodded. “Alright.” I trotted away from him, until he turned around, then I slouched and dragged myself to our house.
The door flew open, and there, stood Mo, eyes wide. “Lana, I know your probably not up to it, but I would like to talk.”
I sighed and walked in the door, and headed straight for my room. I shifted, and changed into normal clothes then walked back out, feeling unsteady on my human legs.
“What do you want?” I asked flopping on the couch.
Mo sat daintily on the chair across from me and sighed. “Mind if I tell you a story?”
I shook my head. “Go ahead.”
“A little girl of nine was born with her poor family. The man did not know he had married a witch, and helped give birth to one, but they were happy, for nine whole years. One day, a man suspected about the mother of being guilty of witchcraft, and confirmed his suspicion when he saw the mother magically heal her daughter. She was held on trial and found guilty. But the woman had one hope, that her husband would drop all charges, since he was the mayor.”
“He didn’t. He let her be burned to the stake, and allowed the little girl to watch. The little girl heard her screams every night she went to bed. So she called upon all her black magic, and cursed her father into becoming one of her kind. A warlock. Soon, he was found out too, and burned to the stake. The little girl stayed alone for ten more years, never marrying or associating with humans. She was forever alone and evil. But she gave an oath that she would never leave the town, and make sure no one was ever burned to the stake as her mother was, ever again. And in doing so, she succeeded. But it wasn’t enough, she felt urges to leave, but she wouldn’t let herself, so being as stupid as she was, she created a Bounding spell that would never allow her to leave. She never left the town, and now she has a new thing to protect. Her mate.”
I swallowed hard. “You are that little girl, aren’t you.”
She nodded. “The dreams are still vivid. This, Lana, is the town that I am still bound to protecting. I was here when Lucinda was young and found this place, and made It her own. I’ve been here for decades, waiting for someone to come and make life out of this town. And now she has.”
“So, is your spell broken?” I asked.
She shook her head. “It will never be. Even if in thousands of years, there is nothing, I will still be here, trying to keep it from collapsing.”
I sighed. “I’m sorry. I never knew…” I thought back to the day when Erick told her to leave, and the way her face looked so hurt.
“What’s wrong?” She asked.
“You think Erick’s your mate, don’t you?”
