I turn to every channel of the radio and absolutely nothing is on. Then I hear it, my favorite song. My fingers instantly goes to turn it up and I begin singing terribly.
Suddenly I slip and of course bring a couple of things down with me. One included a picture of me, Nadia and Bella. The picture frame makes a loud cracking noise as it lands on the hardwood flooring. Fantastic.
Nadia, Bella and I are all living in the upper parts of Florida near Georgia in a cozy 3 bedroom apartment. It's not much but we can't afford anything more. Overall, I love the place. It was tightly packed, but we live independently. Therefore its the best apartment ever.
Of course I said that about the previous apartments I had lived in. You will not believe the extreme prices out there.
"Dawn!" I turn around to find Nadia standing there, looking tired and angry. How can I blame her? She is the most motherly figure living in this cramp apartment. Imagine raising 2 irresponsible young women when you are a young women yourself.
Nadia is only 23 and works as a house sitter. Despite her young age, she's as stuck up as the librarian- who no one has ever seen smile. The thing is, Nadia didn't really look like the type to be this stuck up librarian.
She's tall, tan and flawless. Seriously, flawless. I am positive the flaw gene as been erased from her when she was a child. She would never make any mistakes- while personally, I would trip over the air. But the flawless part was a quality that makes her, her.
"Sorry..." I smile, sheepishly. She just had to give me the motherly look of disappointment, didn't she?
"Let's just clean this mess up," she sigh, kneeling to pick up the picture frame. "And can you turn down the radio? It's 3 in the goddamn morning. And where the freak is Bella?" She added, starting to get cranky.
God, nothing is worse than a cranky Bella. It was like a normal girl who is PMSing, but 3 times worse.
"Bella is probably in the bar, club, or in some guys bed." I said, turning down the radio. Those were her regular hang outs.
"When she gets home, scold her. Look, I'm going to Tara's house. Be back at like 6am." Nadia said, putting on flip flops and leaving without looking back.
Did she just leave me to the responsible of cleaning broken glass and scolding Bella? And did she really leave at 3 in the morning? Wow, I mustve really annoyed her...
Tara is one of those tarot card type lady. Nadia was extremely superstitious and that's what made her serious and stuck up. Tara's business name is Madam Blue. She's mysterious and I don't understand a word that comes out of her disgusting chapped mouth. She's like 78 and I always sneeze when I see her. Which was often as she has a little shop on the boardwalk.
"Hey Dawn!" Bella screams, stumbling in. Bella is this 21 and jobless girl. She just turned 21 so she spends most of her nights drinking, dancing or sleeping around with other random drunks. Although she's complete trouble, I stick around.
"Hi- uh Bella, who's that?" I point to some random guy who looks like he was following her. He has green eyes that looked everywhere at once. His hands suspiciously in his pockets and what seemed to be a ghost of a smile on his face. I need some information. Two words. Stranger danger.
"Hah! Dawn, you're so funny! He's my soul mate. I love him!" She giggles and then collapses. Literally just face plant herself- it was TOO perfect. I burst out laughing and then turn to the random guy who looks scared.
"So, who are you?" I asked, wiping a tear away from my grey eyes.
"Hello, I'm Kyle." He said, extending his hand. "I just moved here from the UK."
