My Heart Started and Stopped With You

2. Speeding

      As my best friend Cassie and I were walking home from school we saw a car speed down the street. We had no idea at the time who it was or why they were driving so fast.

"So are we still going to go to the park today?" Cassie asked as I just stared at the end of the street.

"Hum...what...oh yeah it's Friday is in't it?" I say as she snaps me out of my trance. "Who do you think that was?I asked

"I don't know." she reply's

      As get to our houses we part ways. She walked across the street to her house and waved at me before we both walked into our houses. Cassie and I have lived across the street from each other for as long as i could remember. That's how she became my best friend. As I walked in and shut the door behind me I hear crying. Being a curios 10 year old I went to go see who was crying and why. It was one of my moms friends who lived next to us. I didn't want to interrupt them so I just stood out side the kitchen and listened. I couldn't understand much of what they were saying, but I could hear some bits and peaces.

"I don't know why he would do that...all I do is love him even when he is at his worst." all the words broken up with sobbed. "I thought we were working it out. I don't know what to do. I'm just hoping that he come back." with that I learned that it was my neighbor that was in that car that went down the street.

"What about Sebastian? Is he okay?" my mom asked.

"H...he..hit him?" she said in the most shaky voice I had ever hear. And with that I ran to the park to meet up with Cassie. I had known Sebastian almost as long as I have known Cassie. I thought that him and his family were find. I know that they had some troubles but I didn't know how bad they were. As I got to the park I saw Cassie sitting on the swings like always. I ran to her barely able to see from all of the tears and hugged her as tight as I could.

      She asked me why I was crying, and I told her everything. I told her about how the car was Sebastian's  dad, how his mom was at my house crying and about how he had hit him.

"Oh my gosh! Is he ok? Where is he? Is.." She says but I cut her off with "I don't know but we need to find him and see." I say finally catching my breath and wiping the tears from my face. So instead of us hanging out at the park like we usually do, we went to fine Sebastian. We looked at his house, in his room, in all the hiding spots that he showed us when we play hide-n-seek, but he wasn't in any of those places. Cassie went to double check his room and I went to the back yard. I found him sitting in the gardening shed crying. I waked up to him and it seemed that he didn't see or hear me so I took that to my advantage. I went up and hugged him as tight as I could and he hugged back. We sat there and hugged for a good 20 minutes before Cassie finally found us. When she did we where still in the same position that we had been in for the past 20 minutes crying.

      We all where sitting in there crying trying to get each other to laugh but Cassie and I didn't try to get him to talk to us about what had happened. We knew that if we did all the laughing that we had just done would go away as fast as the time had gone by. The next thing I knew was that we all had fallen asleep in the shed. Starting with Sebastian but as soon as Cassie and I try led to get up and leave he woke up and asked us to stay. So we did and then we all feel fast asleep.
